Acer Aspire E380 R01-C0 With Unlocked Overclocking Options
#91
After reading this whole thread I am still somewhat confused due to the fact I am relatively a n00b.

I have the Acer Aspire E380, in detail:
DMI BIOS
phoenix Technologies, LTD
version R01-B3
date 02/07/2007
Mainboard Model EM61SM/EM61PM

1. When updating to the latest MANUFACTURE bios,(I have not yet) what is the best CPU I can possibly install? How big of a power supply do I need for that chip? Stock cooling sufficent?

2. After downloading the lastest bios from the Acer website, it comes with a program WINFLASH. Instead of making a disk etc, can't I just use that program? Also the instructions that come along in the file are very vague. What boxes do I leave checked, and what boxes do I not? Any further instructions needed?(not to sure how to use this program, even after looking for further help).

3. I have been reading alot that this board locks up with anything over 2GB ram installed. Anyone have any insite on this?

I apologize in advance if my questions have been asked 42,000 times Blush.
I also thank you in advance for possible answerd questions.Cool

Sorry for the delay we have been extremely busy!

Winflash can be used but its more risky - your relying on Windows not to crash before the flash is complete otherwise you will end up with an unbootable pc!

Because you are using the abit bios , you can install any CPU supported by the Official bios please look at the HP Nettle 23 Thread for more info as this uses the same bios

Only "Nettle" threads I see are: 2, 3, even after I use the search option. I also tried to type in exactly what you said "HP Nettle 23". No go..

The correct file is 61AO615.Bin Version is R01-C0 , not R01-B1

Updated link!

Use the same link , they have updated files

See if it gives message now , shouldnt do as it says E380 in the readme Big Grin

Regards and apologies

I bought an athlon II x3 245 and the computer doesn't boot up. all fans turned on, power supply started but nothing happened. no signal to the screen, don't hear the hard disk, no beep ... When I stop it with the power switch (button), the cpu and case fans turned off but the power supply still on. Really strange! Do you think the motherboard don't like the athlon II 245? any idea?

ASE380 - 2go ram - amd 4200+

Are the jumpers to change the multiplayer on this board? thank you in advance.

As you can read in several threads about theses MCP61 boards we had some issues with the Athlon II...
But the Phenom I and II are working fine unless their TDP is lower than 85W...

Sometimes you just have to try to be sure it is not working...

I am back in here as I promised! Big Grin So tell me your needs!
