HP DX2250 MS-7297

Glad It Worked Out For You , Shame About The Virtulization Though Sad

Its one thing to unlock something thats hidden , another thing entirely to add things that dont exist to start with!!!

Kind Regards

oh well, maybe hp will realise its widely needed now and get it added to their bios.... can always live in hope Wink

but thanks for unlocking everything else hp decided in their infinite wisdom to hide, should be fun ocing my cpu. without blowing it up

Yeah , id really consider buying a decet cooler before you overclock the cpu

Remember , HP doesnt expect you to overclock so it hides the options to do so , therefore the cooler they supply will probably not be able to cope with the extra heat given off by the processor once overclocked.

I have a problem installing 4 Gb RAM (2*2Gb) in this mobo. Stick of 2Gb alone works fine, 2 sticks 2Gb+1Gb almost works fine, but 2*2 refuses to start Angry
Any idea about issue?

Hi Mate

Using this link:-

http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.a...del=dx2250

The most memory officially supported by your board is 2gb (1gb per slot)

You can run into all sorts of problems once you start trying to put more memory in than whats supported!

Kind Regards

Ignore the PM Confused i finally it sorted.

Seems HP are using different versions of winflash as well, i have extracted the installer and made a folder that works and installs correctly. They also name thier files .ROM not .bin

Copy the folder (bios tools) to the c: root then run bios tools.exe , it will install YOUR new bios under windows . Big Grin

You are right , there a a [censored] of a lot more options there now, But no virtulization one that i could see Sad will have to see what windows 7 finds on it.

many thanks for all that you done on this

warlord

oppppps almost forgot the file is here . http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=198f7...f6e8ebb871

Have you still got this bios and biostools folder?
link says the folder is empty Sad

HP DX2250

Could you help us with this bios , i am not sure if its award or phoniex everset give this.

Motherboard:
CPU Type DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2600 MHz (13 x 200) 5000+
Motherboard Name HP Compaq dx2250
Motherboard Chipset ATI Radeon Xpress 200/1100/1150, AMD
System Memory 2048 MB (DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM)
BIOS Type Award (08/11/08)

but it also shows this . Confused

DMI:
DMI BIOS Vendor Phoenix Technologies, LTD
DMI BIOS Version MS7297 1.12
DMI System Manufacturer Hewlett-Packard
DMI System Product HP Compaq dx2250 Microtower
DMI System Version
DMI System Serial Number HUB739189G
DMI System UUID 80D9680B-71DB1210-B3C3B8A0-C9C7C931
DMI Motherboard Manufacturer MSI
DMI Motherboard Product 0A7

the only reason for the unlock is to get virtulization enabled and yes the chip does support it, but the bios has no setting for it.

the firmware can be located here :

I flashed with HP DX2250 (MS 7297) With OC.bin full working now I can access the frequency and voltage options buy where is the option for overclock the CPU? I can't find it.....It's there somethin wrong?
find

The Frequency And Voltage Options ARE the options to overclock.

CPU Speed = Frequency x Multiplier

Processor Multiplier is locked unless you have an AMD Black Edition or Intel Extreme CPU.

Use the voltage to overclock too!
