[solved] p5kc bios need ahci
#51
hey camiloml can you help me out i really liked your work with the modded pk5c

i wanted to know if you can add (SATA hot plug) into the bios so i can disable it and i will no longer be able to hot swap ssd's or hdd's but that will also fix my problem of the usb safely remove icon so it can no longer show for my ssd like this
[Image: e00pll.jpg]
direct link http://i50.tinypic.com/e00pll.jpg

so i was thinking just mod the already modded bios for the p5kc and add sata hot plug please so i can disable it

in this bios by MSI they have sata hot plug
MSI Bios 10.5

i haven't looked for any asus bios that may have sata hot plug but i will look and post back here because i don't think that a msi bios will work with a asus bios or will it ?

Hello! I have ASUS P5KC motherboard, rev. "1.XX" and I want an AHCI support. Should I flash my BIOS with "p5kc-1203_slic-ahci_v2" or "p5kc-1203_ahci" ROMs? What's the difference? Thanks.

Anyway, I have flashed my BIOS with p5kc-1203_ahci.ROM and everything seems to be okay... I've got a BSOD today, but I don't think it's BIOS related. Thanks!

Flashed my BIOS with the p5kc-1203_slic-ahci_v2 rom last night and it did the trick. Thanks!

Downloaded and ran your updated bios and I must thank you for solving a problem for me. I had already built the system with Windows 7 and it appears that a small update to the registry allows the change from IDE to AHCI without a rebuild (worked for me)

Some odd behavior ruring the first couple of restarts but I ignored these and after rebooting twice it all returned to normal.

Thanks again.

Hello everyone!

First i would like to thank camiloml for providing this MOD for P5KC. You are the man!

Unfortunately there is an issue with my system after flashing the mod.

Brief specs:

CPU: Q6600
Mobo: ASUS P5KC
RAM: Crucial BallistiX 4x1GB DDR2 @800Mhz
GPU: ASUS EN8800GT 512MB
PSU: Enermax liberty 620W
SSD: OCz Vertex 4 128GB
HDD: WD Caviar black & WD Caviar Green

I successfully flashed the bios on my mainboard and i enabled AHCI mode that previously couldn't. I installed a new OCZ VERTEX 4 128 GB and Windows 8 Pro 64bit. It all gone well at the first day.

Now the system powers on normaly and as soon as it gets to windows logo it Shutsdown and i have to power it on again.
Then, it sometimes gets BSODs randomly without any stress at all. even at idle time!

I performed a format and i installed windows 8 from the beggining and the problem is still there.
I scanned with memtest86+ and no errors where found at 3 full passes.

Before the SSD+Win8+modded bios, i had an WD Raptor+Win7+1203 bios and NEVER NEVER NEVER had an BSOD or any problem like that.

What should i do now?

Thanks in advance.
