#41
Anybody knows the key combination to do a bios crisis recovery (phoenix).

Thanks in advance
Sam

Please make sure your notebook can recover corrupted BIOS with CRISIS disk before flashing BIOS with this modified BIOS image. I will not responsible for any problem. Good luck. Smile

Hy,

I have a similar problem with my amilo pro v3515.
I have upgraded the cpu to a core2duo t5600 and the ram to 4 gb 667 mhz.
the i have noticed several problems:
-the cpu is recognized by the original bios but it gets overheated and the fan runs at maximum, my guess probably from being undervolted. after doing some research i have noticed that all the processor used originally are in the 0.762ā€“1.3 V range while core2duo are in 1.0375ā€“1.3 V range. Because this chipset doesn't support speedstep the processor gets very hot.
-the ram isn't recognized at 667 for one, and it won't boot with 4gb only with 2.
The chipset used, vn896, from the specifications seems to be capable to support core2duo and 667 mhz memory, which leads to only one conclusion: the voltage and memory frequency are fixed in bios. And another thing probably from bios too Iā€™m guessing: the harddisk gets the lcc syndrome probably from a power saving option, tried 3 hdd until now, all are behaving in the same manner in this notebook.
So in conclusion:
-Can you please confirm that there are the options that i need in the bios to regulate the voltage and ram frequency ?
- How can i load the bios if necessary? or were i can find instructions.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Go to the fujistsu siemens support site, select your laptop.
At the menu, select manuals from the left.
In there you will find : Recovery BIOS and BIOS Update in pdf format.
There is a procedure where you have to change a pin on the motherboard and have a bootable usb with the bios, but it's better explained there.
Hope this helps.

Hey. It has been a while.
My screenshot for updated BIOS:

About processors with 64-bit architecture:

If you are using the processors from T series above T2700 on Socket M. It is possible that your notebook will recognize more than 2GB installed. The modules have to be identical brand. I used Kingston 667 Mhz each 2Gb. It worked in my case, I tested it with T7200. However, then you fan will constantly work. I had no issues with overheating on that end. Somewhere in the posts, I spotted that Kizwan suggested to use Shin Etsu thermal compound. I used that, no problems whatsoever.

Yet, I decided to stick with another CPU and upgraded my earliest upgrade T2500 to T2700, and abandoned the idea of 64-bit CPUs. They costly and unnecessary for the work I do. T2700 does not overheat, no pin mods required. All is there 2.33 Ghz and 2Mb L2 cache. I do not care much that it does not recognize more than 2Gb. At least it is safe, and my notebook is not under stress, which makes me think it will last a year or so.

Other than that... I did not manage to get the memory working in Dual Channel. I received a comment from VIA that Dual Channel works only with VIA processors for this specific motherboard type.

I hope I answered all. Smile Good luck you all!

Hi everybody!

I discorvered this forum by chance and i am very happy that there is such place where people can share infos about CPUs/BIOS and Motherboards, so i wish you good luck!

I will explain my problem if you don't mind:

I still have a Fujitsu Amilo Pro v 3515 Laptop from 2007 and i have recently installed Windows 8 on it and it's working good but a bit slow when i open too many programmes.

My Config is as below:

Computer Type ACPI x86-based PC (Mobile)
Operating System Microsoft Windows 8 Professional with Media Center Motherboard:
CPU Type Mobile DualCore Intel Pentium T2060, 1600 MHz (12 x 133)
Motherboard Name FUJITSU SIEMENS AMILO PRO V3515
Motherboard Chipset VIA VN896

DIMM1: Samsung M4 70T2953EZ3-CE6 1 GB DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-9 @ 200 MHz)
DIMM2: SK Hynix HYMP564S64BP6-C4 512 MB DDR2-533 DDR2 SDRAM (5-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-9 @ 200 MHz)

Display:
Video Adapter VIA Chrome9 HC IGP Family WDDM (256 MB)
DMI BIOS Vendor FUJITSU SIEMENS
DMI BIOS Version Phoenix 1.0N-2309-8A20
DMI System Manufacturer FUJITSU SIEMENS
DMI System Product AMILO PRO V3515
DMI System Version 20
DMI Motherboard Product AMILO PRO V3515

B00 D00 F00: VIA CN896/P4M900/PT890Pro/VN896 Chipset - System
B00 D00 F03: VIA CN896/P4M900/PT890Pro/VN896 Chipset - DRAM Controller

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, the graphic card is taking 256 MB from RAM whihc is 1.5 Gb only and i would like to unlock the hidden menu of VRAM which has been hidden since i updated Bios from original one to 1.0N from Fujistu website.
So, i would like to reduce VRAm and also by the same occasion know if somebody tried with this model GB and it really worked?

Please help me!

Thx in advance.

Hello. Immediately apologize for English (I use a translator). Please unlock the ability to change the size of the memory buffer for the graphics core on Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro v3515. In the old version 10B such possibility was (it was possible to allocate from 32 to 128MB of memory for a video core). In subsequent versions, this option was no longer and the system automatically takes 256MB of memory (which is a lot for a total of 2GB). Is it possible on the latest version 10N unlock this option? Thanks in advance! The version of the BIOS 10B (where there is this option yet) and 10N (as the most recent) attached.

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I had this point in mind. Flashed your firmware. This point appeared, but what value I would not expose - all the same 256MB is allocated from RAM((
