Thanks for your fast reply! What i dit: I extracted your files and copied them on the pendrive (named "HP_TOOLS") into the folder "Hewlett-Packard". So all the files are in Hewlett-Packard/BIOS/...

I switched on the notebook with the pendrive. The screen is black, the notebook is reading from the pendrive (it's light is flashing), for a short time i see a cursor on the screen and then the screen turns black again and so on. I think it's going into a reboot after reading and showing up with a cursor for a second. Any ideas?

update: Got it working again - i didn't see your "base-files", with them on the pendrive the HP-bios-flashscreen came up. Now it's running again.

Dou you have any ideas, why it has gone into blank-screen with the unlocked bios?

I only know that RSA signed bioses, even working after being modded, sometimes corrupt CMOS (and cmos is flash emulated, only RTC is volatile) and that result in bios believe it's corrupted too so goes to black screen and blinking caps.

Thas means this bios can't be modded? Or should i test to flash it again because something has gone wrong?

I have the same problem as you, but I don't know what you mean with "base-files"? There is no files in New folder must I get the bios there or what?

Update: I got it working! Ty anyways Big Grin

Hello,

I am a newbi here and this is the first time I am try this, so sorry for the silly question.

I am trying to Upload the BIOS into my HP 635 laptop, and I have tried both ways. Here are the steps I have taken.

1. Updated the BIOS with the official version of the F42 BIOS.
2. Copied the files on to the HP_TOOLS pen-drive and tried to install it that way. It kept saying there is no Update.
3. Loaded windows up and ran the InsydeFlash.exe file it loaded the BIOS and then rebooted and took me into the BIOS update screen. It then said the Signature file was wrong!
4. I can't update to the F42 version or roll back to the F20 as both say the signature file is incorrect.

Can you please let me know what I am doing wrong. Many thanks in advance for all your work and efforts in general.

Thanks

Peter

Hi all !
Tried your F42 mod on my compaq cq57, flashing it from win$ with your exe bundle... Unfortunately all I got was a semi-brick.
Recovery went fine (I had my usb stick ready!!). The recovery procedure I followed is thus, hope it helps some of you guys :
- prepared the drive with HP's UEFI tool (fat 32 filesystem, labeled 'HP_TOOLS')
- grabbed the hp bios softpaq (F46 in my case, but should work with F42, that is sp55355.exe), unpacked it and opened it with Andy's phoenix tool
- copied the 03577.BIN.DEC and RSA.SIG files generated by Andy's tool into the usb drive's Hewlett-Packard/BIOS/Current folder, renaming them to 03577.BIN and 03577.RSA respectively
- shut down, held win +b, pressed power and quickly released win + b keys afterwards
The screen remains blank and after about 15 secs, fan speed goes up and the screen lights, recovery starts... No pb
What I have noticed is :
- no need to keep power button pressed too long. Just keep win + b pressed beforehand and release them immediately after pressing power
- usb stick can contain other stuff, as long as the BIN and SIG are in the right place, that is 'Hewlett-Packard/BIOS/Current'
- When bricked, the caps lock light keep blinking. When starting the recovery, it shouldn't be blinking. It should only do so if the recovery has failed, after about 15-20 secs. This means you've gone wrong preparing the usb drive, but there's still hope left ! If you can't even get past this and it just blinks from the start whatever you do... perhaps you've succeeded in getting a quite expensive paperweight !
