hi everybody..
i'm just new here in this forum & sad to say that i'm also really a newbie of techs specially with this bios issues.
i find it very interesting reading the whole thread for i also have my rampage III extreme.
i want to use it to the fullest believing that i bought a high-end mobo (lol).... : )
i've read the whole thread, & im still trying to digest the bios update issues that were discussed here, but i want first to buy an SSD for my system for me to maximize the performance of my computer...
can anyone here give me an advice if "corsair Force Series™ GT 240GB SATA 3 6Gb/s Solid-State Hard Drive" or "corsair Neutron Series™ GTX 240GB SATA 3 6Gb/s SSD" is compatible with R3E? & which of the 2 is better?....
sorry for an amateur question..but i see this thread gives me hope to love my R3E more... : )
after this i will try to update my bios...
i hope somebody here is kind enough to guide me...
tnx in advance & God bless everybody..
ps: tnx sir ZioGTS for such a great thread...
regards,
metelo

Hi Metelo. Yes, those drives are pretty good indeed. They will work on your R3E, but you can't achieve real 6 Gb/s speeds with our mobo... Unfortunately, our Sata3 controller from Marvell is a piece of crap. You'd better use Intel controller for a single SSD drive, even if it's only Sata2.
Take a look at Tom's Hardware reviews and charts to get an idea of the best SSD and their price/performance ratios.
Oh, and by the way...
UPDATED 11/04/13: Released ZioMod 1601_S09 with new Intel Network module v1.4.10! Check first post for download links, as usual!

Hello,
NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 Host Controller Utility said firmware is v3021 in your ZioMod Bios'
There is firmware v4.0.2.0 for uPD720200 & uPD720200a on station-drivers.com
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/renesas.htm
If it is possible, can you update the bios ?
thanks ZioGTS for such a great thread ! Looking forward to more updates !

Whizzz, I am afraid, firmware version 4.0.2.0 is not compatible
with our NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 Host Controller.
Firmware version 4.0.2.0 is only for the model uPD720200a
NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 Host Controller.
The NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 Host Controller we have on our
Asus Rampage III Extreme is model uPD720200.

Correct. On bootup it just says 'Non-RAID disk' and it will work as before. At least it did for me. My bootdisk is a Samsung 840 Pro which is connected to the Marvell controller. I have two harddrives on the Intel controller, which are now both detected by the Intel RAID BIOS as 'Non-RAID disks'.

Exactly. And BTW, NEC/Renesas firmware resides in its own chip, it's not part of the mobo bios. You can flas the usb3 chip independently by using the NEC utiity provided with the bios update. Version 4.0.2.0 won't flash, the utility will recognize you've got the older chip.

Intel RAID OROM 12.6.0.1867 is now available on station drivers.
Code: http://www.station-drivers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=4433
The new OROM seems to be working absolutely fine on our Rampage III Extreme.

I learned that the X58 chipset mainboards don't have an Intel ® 5-Series Chipset SATA RAID Controller, and are not supported at all by the TRIM in RAID feature (not even by a modification of the hex code of the RAID ROM module).
Is this true?
