ASUS P6X58-E WS -> Marvell 88SE9128 -> ROM Update
#1
Hello!

Is there someone who can integrate the newest Marvel-SATA-Firmware into the last ASUS-Bios? I have massive SSD Performance-Troubles and the Asus-Marvel-Firmware ist really old.

The Asus 0301 Bios uses following Marvel Firmware:
BIOS Version 1.0.0.1029
Firmware Version 2.1.0.1413
Boot Loader Version 1.0.1.0002

I've tested to flash de Marvel Firmware manually but every reboot after flashing the asus Bios is automatically re-flashing the old Marvel firmware. It takes me crazy!

Latest ASUS-Bios:

Marvell has put out a update for gig mobo's not for ASUS.

This update runs Linux and is done in DOS, before windows, so if you run the update you will see it say marvell updated.

But when you check again you will notice it didn't, this is because its not for the chip on your mobo.

If your chip was one that needed the firmware update, it would work and you would only have to run the DOS cd and do not need to have the BIOS mod.

Sorry to say, the 9128, 9172, 9220, are nothing but garbage, they will never be Sata 3, they are Sata 2 controllers.

If you ever want a sata 3 you need a mobo with the 9182 or a mobo with the chipset that uses the southbridge Sata 3.

hmmm i do not understand...

The Firmware-Update ist for "Marvell 88se91xx". The "xx" must include my 9128 Chip?!

I've done the firmware-flash via DOS-Boot and it was successful. The problem is that the Asus-Bios re-flashes the "old" Marvel Firmware automatically after the first reboot.

If every single 9128 chip was made the same day then I guess every chip would need the update.

If the firmware was in the bios and not on the chip, then they would have to write it into a new BIOS update, but its not, its on it own.

That's like saying a SSD firmware is in the BIOS.

If your chip needed the update, then ASUS would have posted it.

But then again they are a garbage company stuck putting garbage on brand new mobo's and lie about it, so maybe they just don't care.

Hopefully you won't have to wait to long before someone checks your BIOS.

Good luck.

So you made a bootable flash drive, or cd, and you booted to it then you ran the (GO ) command on the batch, so then you see the Marvell tool, and after running Go, what did it say, you didn't get an error ?

Hello!

I made the requested BIOS file for you.
.rom   0301marvell1033.rom (Size: 2 MB / Downloads: 76)

I changed the original 0301 BIOS to include:
the Marvell 91xx AHCI ROM version 61.0.0.1033
the Marvell 91xx firmware version 2.2.0.1125b
the Marvell 91xx bootloader version 1.0.1.0002b

I have tested it on my P6X58-E WS board just to be sure.

I will also include the latest Marvell 91xx win drivers version 1.2.0.1027, no NRU/MSU or other software inlc.
.zip   Marvell_V1201027.zip (Size: 3.72 MB / Downloads: 65)

PS
I didn't have to load any BIOS defaults after flashing the modded BIOS since only the Marvell is updated the first time you launch.
DS

Good luck!

I am having the same problems with my P6X58-E WS. The Intel Storage Matrix Manager Options Rom currently v8.0.0.1038 ICH10R. Can someone help me with updating the Bios version 3.0.1. to include the Marvel (as above) and Intel Storage Matrix Manager Options Rom to include the latest version (either 8.9x or 11.7x)?

Hello!

The latest Intel ROM this motherboard supports is 8.9.0.1023.
I'll upload a BIOS rom with both Marvell and Intel for you!
