I have recently purchased a SSD and my Dell Inspiron 620 does not have the AHCI mode for the best performance out of the SSD. Please can you help me to enable this feature. I have upgraded to A10 to see if the option had been enabled and it hasn't. If you need anymore information please let me know

Thanks in advance.

Well, the latest A10 bios will actually brick some USB ports and there is no AHCI option in bios too. Anyone mind to help as I'm in the same situation, upgraded to A10 bios.

Could anyone help me to edit the Bios A10 and enable the option for AHCI. Thanks

I will suggest you backup bios and flash mod bios  from intel fpt tool  is better.

On my experience to unlock inspiron 660 ,i  i use this tool.

I updated to the latest bios (A10) but for some reason it didn't have achi setting though chipset H61 supports achi. also, there is no settings to adjust fan speed

BiosA10

Can anyone help unlock achi and add fan adjustment feature?
Thanks!

Well, i am having the same issue as you. There is some guide here.

Run as administrator with dump.bat ,it will dump current bios to bk.rom ,then attach it.

Thanks, i finally able to sort it out myself. This is what i have done for Dell Inspiron 620s Windows 7 64bit

1) Opened a CMD window (run as admin) and traversed to the location of where the untouched MS-A10.exe file was. (using cd function in dos)
2) At the right directory at command prompt, type "MS-A10.exe /forceit"
3) DON'T CLICK ANYTHING ELSE YET. Leave the bios updater open.
4) Next, go to your temp folder (C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\) and the last folder created should be "MS-A10". Either manually edit the MS-A10.BIN [using software like AMIBCP] to your preferences, or just copy and replace the already EDITED BIN file MS-A10.BIN (ensure filename is the same).
5) Go back to Bios Updater and proceed to click "Update" to finalized the bios update and restart.
6) Second boot, press F2 to ensure there is new "SATA Configuration" menu but don't change anything yet. Proceed to load Windows
7) After Windows load and use Regedit.exe to change the "Start" value at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlset\Services\msahci to a 0.

(Note : For Windows 10, you need to change few directory by changing from 3 to to 0 (zero)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStorV
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStorAV\StartOverride
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\storahci
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\storahci\StartOverride)

8) Rebooted, press F2 to enter BIOS and change to SATA Configuration to AHCI with Enhanced
9) Let Windows load, Windows will automatically updated new drivers for AHCI
10) Run AS SSD etc, you shall get AHCI mode
