AHCI

Hi.I would like to disable AHCI on my laptop.
Model:VGN-NR11S/S (Sony)
Bios:R0131J9 (Phoenix TrustedCore)
I tried using symcmos but I cannot find the register which disables AHCI.I only found VT which is 20D0.I am also I also have the phoenix bios editor but I don't have a clue on how to disable AHCI with it, all I can do is play around with splash screens and rename some advanced options.
Can anyone point me to the right register?

In my opinion AHCI is a better choice than legacy emulation.
What's the reason you want to switch to legacy?
If there is no hidden option in your bios then I think most simple way is tu use somthing like others do with a GRUB patch.
There was a patch for some mac and others to switch from legacy to ahci.that patch write offset 90 of ICH southbridge (don't know what is in yours) but if yours is ICH family then maybe works.
You need to install GRUB and mod that patch to write 02 value att offset 90 of ICH sata controller (original patch write 40) then controller will be switced to legacy emulation.
But I can' say if will work 100% but is more easy to switch to legacy than to AHCI
First you can try from dos with lspci to write 02 value at offset 90 if after you can still access your hdd then maybe is ok if not ...
Search on net for grub ahci patch for more detailed info.

The southbridge is indeed an ICH(ICH8R-M to be precise).What I am trying to do is install a legacy operating system.For whatever reason Sony did not bother to add a bios option and intel did not write a driver.

I tried to disable AHCI in the CMOS but i just can't find the register for AHCI all I found was VT.
And I couldn't find any info on the GRUB method.

Even so BIOS must provide INT13 functions. And even legacy operating system will work through that.
Are you tested your legacy OS?
