ASUS M2N4-SLI new cpu

Hi, I have this old socket motherboard am2 and it seems the limit for it is dual core Athlon 64 X2 6400+

M2N4-SLI - Support (asus.com)


The m2n-sli board, which is quite close in performance, supports 4-core Phenom for socket am3, but my attempts to get at least 65nm Brisbane Athlon X2 6000+ to work on this board ended in failure... Perhaps this problem can be solved at the BIOS level? I would like to have support for 4-core processors for the am3 socket, like some kind of Phenon, if it is possible to implement this for this board

Post a screenshot of Mainboard tab of CPU-Z.
Explain exactly what happens when you try to boot with new CPU.

With a new cpu the system does not start: the fans spin, but the hardware does not initialize

Unfortunately, I have already sold this cpu.

Perhaps there are some bios fixes for this board to use something newer than 2-core cpu?

Try to find any motherboard based on nForce4 SLI chipset with quad core CPU support.
BTW: Asus M2N-SLI based on nForce 560 SLI chipset.

Hi all,
I know that it is an old thread.... like the MB and CPUs that work Smile)))

I received one M2N4-SLI rrev1.02g for nothing and I started to test it.  Firstly I thought that it will work with PH1  9750 and I was very amazed that it didn't pass FC error code with it.

Searching on the net for possible solutions, I have found that NF4 SLI was renamed NF 560 SLI and the board that  Asus  manufactured with 560 SLI chipset M2N SLI,  is physically identical with my board, M2N4 SLI. Another one similar is Asrock Alive NF55SLI-1394 , but with AMI BIOS.

As  Deathbringer said, I tried booting with the 1802 and 5001 bioses from M2N SLI support site, with no good outcome. Both stuck at FC or F00 error debug codes (PCI DEBUG card). This was on Sempron 2800  and Ph1 9750 as a test. 

I tried for fun even with the Asrock ami bios file (same 4mb size)....and surprise Smile)))))))))   it passed half of the startup codes, till code 50 or 52, depending on which CPU was in socket. Is shutsdown after reaching that debug code.

 As a normal procedure for me: 
-  All bioses were written with TL866 II programmer, 2 times delete for the chip. 
-  All tests were done with: 1. no ram / 2. 1 stick 2gb Adata Vitesta ddr2 800 / 3.  2 sticks  Kingmax 1gb ddr2 800  Dual Ch.  
-  The behaviour was the same no matter the ram config. Error FC, F00, 50, 52.

I somebody is free and witty, I attach below my current M2N4 SLI bios dump with TL866 III and I could test and mods for supporting newer cpus from Ph1 and Ph2 series  (I have 9750, 9650 bent pins, but I can make it bootable in 30 mins, Ph2 570, Ph2 955, Ath x2  240).


So, if there are any mods, I can happily test them. I like the board and I'd try my better cpus and the 4 dimms of 4gb ddr2 that I ve bought 10 years ago Smile

 I managed to power the m2n4 sli board with ph1 9750, official Asus bios 5001 written on a  8MBit bios chip from Winbond W39V080APZ.  I've remembered that my old bricked P5N32N-E SLI had a similar PLCC32 chip.  So,, now, I have a new ideea Smile)))) to search for a modded bios to support Yorkfield on the old P5N32-E SLI board, if I manage to find the bricked source of it....

I'm glad I could help Smile Does it work without any messages about USB overcurrent?

ASUS Striker Extreme supports Wolfdale so it should do Yorkfields unofficially, and utilizes nForce 680i chipset as well.
