ASUS m2v BIOS MOD for NV8xxx GPUs (@delete things on bios)
#1
Hello, i have a little problem with this motherboard, pcs with 8xxx/9xxx nvidia series have ramdom crashes, they released a BIOS update which fix this (rev. 2001), but when you update there is a serious performance lose (around 40%, and im not the only who suffers this) (which happens in rev. 1802/1903), could some1 who knows how to mod bios, do a mix of this 1706 BIOS and 2001 BIOS?

What i mean its, take 1706 BIOS, and add what 2001 BIOS added (which fixes nvidia series 8xxx/9xxx) but without adding what 1903 and 1802 bios added (more cpus supported and some weird change which makes performance lose...)

Or take 2001 BIOS and delete what 1903/1802 bios added :/

Thanks ahead,

Secondary problem, if you can unlock pci lock function (doubt it has it), do it, but its not neccesary.

Hi,

my first post hereSmile. I also have the same problem with this motherboard, and want to add some more info.

I have this motherboard ASUS M2V (Via K8T890) since 2007 and am also having this performance issue with the last two bios (ver. 2001 and 2101). I needed to upgrade to the newer bios ver. 2001 because my old ATI X1900 card broke in October 2010 and could buy an old Geforce 8800GTS from a friend for a small price. I was using bios ver. 1802, the last bios which doesn't hamper the performance according my own experience, but this old bios caused instability (random system freezes/crashes) with the Geforce 8800GTS. Despite that I was able to do a 3DMark 2k6 test which gave me a score of 7636.

To fix the stability issues I needed to upgrade the bios upgrade to ver. 2001, after that I was having low performance issues with the 8800GTS; after the bios update (while more stable now) I get a 3DMark 2k6 score of 6311 (same driver, same bios settings). While the 3Dmark score is decreased with just 20%, some games are not playable at all, e.g. COD4: Modern Warfare is unplayable with the new bios (constant stutter) no matter what settings/resolutions I used, while before with the X1900 I could play COD4 without any issues (with bios ver. 1802). It feels like ASUS did something to the pci-e.

Asrock also has two am2 socket motherboards with the K8T890 chipset (ALiveSATA2-GLAN & and AM2V890-VSTA) which do not seem to have the stability issues and the ami bios on these boards also have a pci-lock. So perhaps it's possible to add the pci-lock in M2V's bios?

Since Asus' site is quite slow, here are the bios files:

.zip   M2V_1706.zip (Size: 417.64 KB / Downloads: 7)

.zip   M2V_1802.zip (Size: 418.18 KB / Downloads: 3)

.zip   M2V_1903.zip (Size: 418.74 KB / Downloads: 3)

.zip   M2V_2001.zip (Size: 418.75 KB / Downloads: 6)

.zip   M2V_2101.zip (Size: 440.78 KB / Downloads: 14)

Thanks in Advance Smile!
