Screenshot of your current setup menus -

Awesome. thanks again and much appreciated. but I spent the better half of the night trying to flash the bios and i'm just trying to figure out how to go about doing that now. is there any utility that any of you use to flash the custom rom? or is there any way to splice this rom into the bios update tool from acer? I tried using the recovery guide here on the website for the insyde bios. but was never able to get the laptop to try and grab the renamed bios file from the flash drive prior to POST

Nemulas I think you only uploaded your bios rom file which you get after extracting the bios.setup executable and you just need to delete your original bios rom in the insydeflash directory and put the modified one in the folder

actually No. see I figured that myself and thought i'd be able to grab the rom from the bios update tool from the website but I didn't see the rom file in there and I used the universal bios rom extractor tool [really can't remember the actual name of it off the top of my head] to grab the rom from my laptop, The only file I could think of t hat "may" of been the rom from the extracted exe itself is xerces-c_2_7.dll because of it's filesize, but it looks like it's compressed.

screenshot of files.

Here's the actual bios update itself from acer

hmm tried that and the insyde flash utilitiy tells me that the current platform has a secure boot feature. it must provide nv storage location by ihisi interface.

it tells me to edit a line in platform.ini which isn't even in the exe itself. does it want me to just create one? I'll give that a go I suppose

Ok, created the ini file and it gets past that error. but now it's telling me the new rom size does not match this platform

Hmm... I'm wondering if there's anything else I can add in the platform.ini file I created to have it skip file size check, any ideas? Seems to be the main bottleneck right now.

Well, I finally figured out how to restore the bios by crises mode. I've renamed the modified rom you gave me RoG to Z5WE1X64.FD as per the pheonix tool reading the fresh rom still on the laptop itself. It tries to read the rom as far as I can tell during recovery from the usb drive flashing away, then followed by 3 long beeps, laptop then restarts and boots up normally, and bios doesn't appear to have the advanced tab in there still. so i'm gonna guess that the flash didn't go through properly.

Try This run insyde flash.exe to flash the modded bios and tell me if it works or notTongue
