Hi, I am trying to rebuild my old box with this motherboard and would like to have an unlocked bios.

I tried to flash your bios as instructed and get this error message: The program file's part number does not match with your system!

I have tried it with /py to no avail. Please advise.

Whats printed on your motherboard? You may have a slightly different model

Hi,

I am not sure what you asked me to look for on my motherboard, but here are some stuff I found.

There is a sticker with the numbers: 945M06A1-GC-6LS2H42

There is another sticker with a barcode with the numbers: A1 UYK573213847 PC 45CM-5

There is a silver sticker on a chip that says:
PhoenixBIOS
P686BIOS (I think it is 686)
Phoenix 1998
298380884 (I think it is a 2, rather than a Z)

I hope this is what you are talking about, if not, please point me towards an article that describes how I can find what you are asking for.

Thank you again for your patience and time.

Do programs like Everest / CPU-Z identify your system and motherboard as gateway or Asus?

Thanks

Hi Admin,

Thank you for recommending Everest. I found out that the motherboard is actually a Foxconn 45CM/45GM. I have since flashed Foxconn's BIOS and it has overwritten the Acer locked bios. This was a hand-me-down mobo so I had zero clue as to the origins.

I was completely fooled by CPU-Z because it says this:
Manufacturer: Acer
Model: F945GCM
Chipset: Intel i945G Rev. A2

However Everest says this:
Motherboard ID: 08/10/2007-LakePort-6A79HFKLC-00
Motherboard Name: Foxconn 45CM/45GM Series

This is what the BIOS said:
Product Name: AM1620/VeritonM262
System S/N:
Main Board ID: F945GCM
System Manufacture Name: Acer
MB Manufacture Name: Acer

I would like to thank you very much for your time in looking into this, and your recommendation. I would definitely direct anyone that encounters a bios problem to this forum. Apparently Acer has claimed the Foxconn motherboard as its own (there is a Foxconn logo on a cooling fin). I did not realize that Acer has so many different motherboards using the same model number.

Have a good day.

Wow , normally flashing a retail bios over an OEM is a sure way to kill the computer!

Please link to the bios you used!
