Acer TravelMate 5744 Insyde Bios Problem
#1
Hi! I have an Acer Travelmate 5744 (Motherboard model: BIC50)
Actually yesterday I opened its bios and under the security tab, I activated some supervisor password, but the problem is that I forgot the password.
Now the result is that, the laptop turns on and Windows boots up. I can do anything in Windows but when I try to open the BIOS SETUP during startup, it asks for password. When I try to enter the wrong password then it displays "SYSTEM HALTED" message and screen becomes blank and laptop freezes.

I tried everything. I tried Clearing CMOS, flash the new bios in windows and dos mode. But it is still locked. I read about SPIPG Flash Programmer here:

http://write-code.blogspot.in/2012/08/pa...yMr8iU9Jdg

I did everything as described and now i can erase my bios ic by connecting it to my PC throught LPT Port, but now i need to write new bios on erased bios ic. The problem is that, Acer provides bios file "BA52V107.fd" which is in .fd file extension. I need to convert this file to .bin extension so that i can write it. Please tell me how to convert it?

I know, but I want the original so that I can make the right CUT, for that you'll need to take a look at your "Raw" Bios, try this:

If not works, this:

Run as administrator!

Hey I backed up the Bios of my laptop as you said with the "Universal Bios Backup Toolkit 2.0" and now the backed up bios file is in .ROM extension and I am suspicious that whether it has backed up the password in the bios too which I wanted to remove..

Here is the link to the file : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwFIEm0...sp=sharing

Ok I will say what to do !
You have to get all your significant data as UUID, Machine Serial, Windows Serial, HW Peripherals ID and Wlan WWan MAC-address. You can get it from VSS on bios backup or using Acer DMI utility.
So when You get all these data and You are shure that You can rewrite all, You can use the original to flash it in your eeprom, original you can extract from original bios file use Winrar or 7vZip to extract, bios file is BA52V107.fd, You can rename as do You want .bin - .rom, your SPI programmer will load fine it.
