Asus A8SC VGA bios updated to 60.86.5e.00.42
#1
Hello everybody,

I have an ASUS F8Sa laptop that had a burned motherboard (short-circuit). I've search on eBay an ordered other mobo with the same reference.

After received it, I mount the system and all works fine (I can hear the BIOS and Windows logon sounds) but with black screen.
I think that this happens because the new mobo was from a A8Sc, wich has a different vga board (NVidia 8400M).

Can you please mod the A8 bios to accept the F8's ATi HD2600?

Is there anyway that I can flash the bios without having image on screen?

Thank you

Afonso

I hope this helps:

Remove this ID: 0x0428 NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G 0x10DE NVIDIA Corporation

Add this ID: 0x9581 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 0x1002 ATI Technologies Inc. / Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

Thank you

Hi,

I have the same ASUS A8SC laptop and I modified this bios for your graphic card to work.

Now it supports: Nvidia 8400m g and ATI HD2600 from F8 model.

The best way would be to insert 8400m g and flash this bios, after that you could change your graphic card to HD2600.

I dont have ATI 2600 so I cant be 100% sure that this bios will work with this card but if not there is no risk because 8400m g is still supported in this modded bios.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

This is mod that I made for my ASUS A8SC with Geforce 8400m G. I wanted to put some new life in this 6 year old laptop. Things I changed and updated:

1. VGA Bios updated to version 60.86.5e.00.42 dated 10/13/08.
2. Updated CPU microcodes with newer versions from Intel website.
3. Changed boot logo and boot sound.
4. Lowered default speaker volume from 4 to 3.
5. Default 1 boot device is now a hard drive instead of a network.

changes that I made improve stability and performance of this laptop and also give some new look after turning your laptop on. I use this bios mod and I am very pleased with the result. 3dmark score improved. Remember that you flash this bios on your own risk.
