Asus Q400a (mb is an u47a) Bios Locked cant update or boot

Hello and Thanks for anyone that can help.

I have an Asus Q400a Laptop with an AsusTek u47a mainboard. The bios was originally u47a-407 I however tried to update the bios and now the computer will boot to bios only. The hard drive light does flash but cannot boot to any device.

If I try to go into winflash utility within the bios everything says is older version and wont let me use the bios. If I try other bios files for other models I get model mismatch messages.

someone Please help as ASUS said I had to send it in to get the bios unlocked.

I was in the same dilema. I found the answer to why it boots to bios right away. Here is a quote from a different forum with the answer...

My friend, I found the answer. Please enter the BIOS (press and hold F2 key when power on). Switch to “Boot” and set “Lunch CSM” to Enabled. Then switch to “Security” and set “Secure Boot Control” to Disabled. Press F10 to save and exit. Press and hold ESC key to lunch boot menu when notebook restart. Here is working now.


I take no credit for this as I found it else where.
Hope this helps, and you didn't send your laptop in to ASUS.
