Is the HP 2.1 SLIC better than the DELL 2.1 SLIC for the Striker Extreme?
Heard theres/people have had some problems with the DELL one? Isnt there an ASUS one now? I know it make no difference but it still be proper to have an ASUS one for an ASUS Motherboard dont you think?

Also any modded Striker Extreme 2.1 SLIC bios which is lower version ie. not 1901 which seems to be the only ones i can find?

How should Flash it? Best Method?
How could i restore my bios if something goes wrong?
Also if i use HP 2.1 SLIC what key do i use? i know i can use DELL SLP key with DELL 2.1 SLIC. i havnt seen a HP SLP Key for Windows 7 Ultimate around?

Oh my goodness, so many questions. Big Grin Decide on what SLIC you want and think best, and ll add it (Post request in request forum because its hard to find these pages). Wew do not give out keys on our forum, thats our policy. Aas far as recovery, the only time these things go bad is when the person flashing is clueless.

Thanks,

Ok thanks for replying, much appreciated, I have successfully flashed my Bios a few times over the past couple of years, so im not completely new to it, but i am quite a cautious fellow. Big Grin I am currently using a 2.0 SLIC for Vista, but just wanna do the upgrade. Thats great about giving a request for a different bios revision.

I am interested in how i could go about modding my own bios, so i would'nt have to hassle people with my requests, so any help/advice would be appreciated, unless of course it is to bigger a task for me?

Is it right i use awardflash and this bios to flash? I cant remember what i used for my last flash, im pretty sure it was the onboard Flash program EZ Flash. I have been told its more buggy to use this though? It worked out ok for me, but it does seem picky with bios images and i heard that theres no way to downgrade with EZ flash whereas with a certain version of AwardFlash it can be done successfully. I would like to downgrade my 1601 to i think something like the 120X - 130X as i heard they seem to be the best revisions to be on to use the Overclocking Capabilities of the Azus Striker Extreme motherboard and a Intel Q6600 processor.

Any Advice?

I'll find out the revision number and give a link to the right bios and the requests thread if thats not to much to ask?

How can i downgrade?

Well it depends what you want to mod. For an SLIC just google award/ami slic tool. For the flashing program if yu have an Award bios you use awdflash, and if you have an amibios you yuse afudos.exe.

Cheers, yep, i heard Afudos works for AMI and AWDFLASH for AWARD. My last flashing has been done with Floppy and i used the onboard EZ flash program, it works fine, but the only problem with it is that u cant downgrade and that it doesnt ask you to save a backup. Now im on the latest revsion, i doubt EZ Flash will let me flash an earlier bios, so from now on if i want an earlier one looks like im gonna have to try and earlier version of AWDFLASH? is that correct? and a USB drive as the floppy's dont seem to be able to hold DOS files+AWDFLASH+BIOS.

I have heard i should use HP USB Format Program to prepare my USB drive as a bootbale floppy drive, is this correct?

Anyhow, this afternoon i flashed with DELL 2.1 SLIC 1901 with EZFLASH, went from 2.0 SLIC 1601 to DELL 3.1 SLIC 1901. No problems so far, I have booted Windows 7 and my Exisiting Windows Vista and have edited appropriate files, all activated ok. But i would however prefer an ASUS 2.1 SLIC 1901 for the Striker Extreme if @ all possible, then i can keep it all associated with my Motherboard, i know it really makes no different but, as i say, if its possible and someone kind enough to do it for me, i would be very greatful. Big Grin

I'll have a little read about the SLIC tool, not sure if it over me head tho? i can just about manage to flash the bios, let alone mod it. Big Grin
