BOUNTY: Add Tulsa support to IBM x226 bios
#1
Hi,

I'm offering a bounty of 200$ for *working* modded Phoenix bios of IBM x226, model 8488 that would support Tulsa Xeon processors. I am particulary interested in 7120M.

Original bios of IBM x226 can be found here:
http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-64148&brandind=5000008

IBM xserver x3950 supports Tulsa Xeon processors. Unfortunately I can't post link to the bios.

Thanks
A

sorry that this has taken so long , i need to find another bios to take the cpu support out of because the X3950 bios cant be opened by any of my modding tools!

Thanks for your patience!

OK so ive taken all the microcode out of the Supermicro X6QT8 board (this board was used as a donor for another Tulsa support cpu upgrade mod we did a while back and it definately has all the microcodes required! The microcode size went from 32kb to 51kb (so lots more CPU microcodes added in).

Try this modded BIOS at your own risk!

Unfortunately, the server does not POST after modded BIOS flash. Just ventilators going on, no beeps & black screen. I was using original Irwindale Xeon CPU.

This server has nice bios recovery facility so I'm back and running to the original BIOS. We can try again if you have time & energy for another shot.

Thanks & best regards

Hi tekach,

I will be picking up your case and working on the Tulsa support. Please give us some time to ensure we can correctly add the Tulsa support in.

Thank You,
TheWiz
