think i might be doing something wrong.i am trying to do a bios dump.is a bios dump simply just read the chip then save it?then when i save it in what format to save?

I think the answer of AI (artificial intelligence) is: "You need to save it in a format that your software supports for viewing / editing / recording."
1) if just a dump for the archive this - is any format
2) to view information about it - a format that your software supports to view
3) for editing - the format accepted by the edit program
4) for their further recovery - one of the formats that support flasher software
