Clevo W870CU OC request~
#11
Probably you'll need to reset CMOS. To do so, you'll need to locate & disconnect the CMOS/RTC battery. You'll need to disassemble your computer.

If you use my modified BIOS image & you like it, please consider making a donation. Thank you very much. Smile

I believe your notebook is fine. The only changes in the modified BIOS are BIOS menu/options. Usually BIOS update/flash on Clevo/Sager notebooks involved clearing the CMOS content. Probably when flashing the BIOS you forgot to tell the flashing tool to clear CMOS.

I have done the reset just now.
It's still not working.
I think I have to do a blind flash to roll the BIOS back~Please help.

Unfortunately, I don't know BIOS recovery for Clevo/Sager notebook. Try this procedure:-
  1. Power off your notebook.
  2. Disconnect everything from the notebook, including the AC adapter.
  3. Press the "Email" shortcut key & while pressing the "Email" key, plugged in the AC adapter & press the power button.
  4. Release the "Email" key.

May I know what tool did you use to flash the BIOS? In windows or dos mode?

If the last solution doesn't work, I think you'll need to send the notebook for repair. They will change the motherboard for you if it still under warranty.

There is other method to recover bad BIOS. This require using a Flash Programmer.

Do you know how to make a BIOS only file for flashing into the chip?
I mean cut the EC identifying part and the end of the BIOS to form a exactly 4Mb file?
I'm not quite sure how to explain this~Please search online.
I'm planning to fix it myself.
I will go study oversea, and I will not carry this laptop with me, so there is planty of time. If I can't make it, I might send it to repair.
Thanks a lot after all.
I think the problem is that the modified BIOS you made causing the graphic card or the CPU malfunctioning.

Open the the original image, W87CU18S.LS3, in HEX editor. You will noticed the length of the content is 4098B6. The actual ROM is from offset 0x0 to 0x3FFFFF (length 400000).

Actually what happen to you still doesn't make sense. I already check the modified BIOS many time & I found it shouldn't bricked your notebook at all.

I hope you able to fix it. Good luck.
