DV6700 and SSD

Hi,

I have a HP DV6700:
*Bios: Phoenix
*Version: F58 HP Link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp39501-40000/sp39862.exe
*CPU:Intel Core Duo T5550

I want to replace the HDD with an Intel 520 SSD drive (180Gb). The Bios don't correctly detect the ssd drive. In the diagnostic tab, it display that the drive needs a diagnostic test (49mn). I run it but nothing happens. After almost 1 hour it stands at 0%. I tried many time.

I googled and some web comment suggested to try changing the AHCI mode ... But nothing about that in the F58 Bios.

I don't know if you already have such request and if a Bios change was already done for the PhoenixF58/DV6700.

You ever find a modded BIOS which opened up AHCI / IDE / SATA options and such?

I have a very old DV6700 device, which I thought I'd stick an SSD into, and update RAM from 2x1GB to 2x2GB.
It won't recognise a cheap Kingston A400 240GB SATA SSD though.
Wondering if one of these modded BIOS' is compatible, and will show drive info in BIOS.
