Dell Inspiron 530 / 530s v1.0.2 Experimental Unlocking & Upgrading Project
It's a physical limitation of the chipset you mongoloid

I "also" have an original Inspiron 530 with E2140 1.6 2c2t that has the 1.0.18 BIOS already in place.

Got the modbinned bios installed and up and running . The raid functionality is buggy with SSD's and HDD SMART mode. Putting the system in RAID Mode for start up and choosing not to use the options is possible . There were some additional power state settings. Usb and power on setting were also added too but basically inconsequential.

I cannot get Pentium 820D or E8600 to launch. The capacitors look like they have sunburns and are bubbled right up .Either Cpu refuses to post and does not have beeps on the motherboard. If the microcodes for my cpus were taken out , I suppose I have little option but to return to stock Dell if i would like the use of these other newer cpus.

I cant tell if this bios is the issue or my motherboard is struggling for power delivery .I would like a definitive answer for current cpu support with this bios . All in all a great mod for a tiny bit of extra performance and functionality. E2140 hums along at max speed and 6gb of ram no prob .Thank you.

Datapoint.
Recently rehabilitated a Vostro 400.
MB: DG33M03
CPU: Core 2 Q6600 (Quad)
Added 8G ram and an MX500 SSD.
Came with stock Vostro 400, 1.0.15 Bios. Supported 8G RAM. Has SLIC 2.0 - fine for Vista OEM install, but had trouble activating in-line Win 7 upgrade.

Used awdflash 8.99 on freedos (freedos USB generated with rufus), as my self modded (for slic 2.1) Vostro 400 1.0.15 Bios worked, but winflash started protesting that it was not an award bios (check sum issue I think).
awdflash options: /py/sn/Sb (already made a backup, no major changes to did not use /cc/cp/cd)

awdflash (unofficial)
rufus (official)

Both #74 and #123 work. I did not test RAID, as all I want is AHCI and support for larger HDDs.

Settled on #123, which is #74+slic 2.1. OEM Win 7 installed and offline activated perfectly.
#74
#123
