I know, I just wanted to make sure that there was a mirror available in case yours went down for some reason in the future Smile

While that file unpacks itself, runs, reboots, says it's flashing the BIOS to A17, then cleans up the extra files from the 'C:\BIOS' subdirectory I ran it from... it doesn't appear to actually do anything. i.e. afterwards the SLIC ToolKit (3.2) still shows M07 v2.0 on its SLIC tab. I even turned it completely off then rebooted, to make sure the process was done... and even tried it a few times (Yes, MSE's real-time protection was disabled).

But after running a mm061.exe of 910,787 bytes (MD5 = b3b38ce46eddedd5b5c3e218939c2647 ; CRC32 = 96265279) that I downloaded elsewhere, the SLIC ToolKit now says M09 v2.1... so I guess I'm about ready to install MediaDirect on a new 500GB HDD using the CD that Dell sent me, then Win7 x64 using the Dell DVD.

I still have another i6400 to upgrade if you can tell me what I might be doing wrong with the file linked above. :-)

I have also tried downloading and running. However the PC reboots goes to the Flash Bios screen than after about two seconds it reboots and the process fails.

The Bios that would need to be modded is: http://ftp.us.dell.com/bios/mm061a17.exe is this download the correct one for this OEM bios or did they lock down A17 from being modded?

Hi all,
I aquired an old Inspiron 6400 and hope to get it up and running again. I think I have searched/checked the relavent links, but they are old and dead. If mods or any users know of a link that is still active for this file, it would be much appreciated!

I haven't had so much luck. Where did you find it?

Thanks in advance.

Aha!
Found it here:

http://www.mediafire.com/view/4idebk...61A17_SLIC.exe

Haven't tried it yet though!

Strange... I'm getting the same thing where the BIOS update cuts out after 4 or 5s and doesn't actually update anything.

Does anyone have any ideas what I could be doing wrong?

Thanks.

Does anyone have a current link for this? The most recent one seems to be dead.
Thanks! Big Grin

After a brief search I found it, so never mind.
Here's the link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/4idebk...7_SLIC.exe
