Foxconn 865G7MF Pinmodded Xeon Support
#1
Hi everyone. I've experimented with a modded Xeon 5050 (Dempsey core, 2c/4t, 3 ghz, 667 FSB, S-Spec SL96C) and it does boot initially and will even get into Windows on the igpu. It's extremely unstable however and it doesn't appear to see both cores. FSB appears to be running at 150 and not at the max multi it supports. I suspect the PCI and AGP clocks are running out of spec because some graphics cards do not do an initial boot successfully. I can enter the Bios, but the computer locks up in the middle of memory detection after I reboot. Because of the instability I had to snap pics with my phone and I'll upload those separately.
I basically would like a microcode update and unlocked FSB controls. The Dempsey Xeons have downward unlocked multis, so I should be able to bump the FSB to 800 mhz and lower the multi to 30, getting the advertised clock speed and with additional bandwidth for the CPU.

This board is based on the i865, so you may be able to import microcode from one of the modded Asrock 775i65G bioses here: https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/a...-r3.0#bios

Thanks

The pics I try to attach aren't uploading for some reason. Do I need permissions to upload?

Make DOS USB-stick (e.g, by Rufus), download and unzip all files for the modded version of CHECKUP7 to this DOS USB-stick.
Install your Xeon 5050, boot from this DOS USB-stick and make a photo of the screen with results.

OK. Now download this file, rename it to PEP.DAT and copy (with replacement) to your DOS USB-stick.
Boot from your DOS USB-stick and make new photo of the screen with results.

So boot into windows xp? Is there a way of doing that without resetting the system and wiping the microcode update?
