Gateway GM5442 CPU upgrade / question

Don't know this is possible or not but this mobo in this computer is based on an Intel® Desktop Board D945GCLF which has a bios updated in 2010 (ill link below). The gateway bios was last updated in 2007, would there be any way to use the newer Intel bios on the board? I am on the latest gateway bios and I have noticed some wierd issues with ram (wont address more than 4gb even in 64bit OS).

Please let me know if possible.

D945GCLF is based on 945GC with PAE=32 bit. So it can't address memory more 4 Gb.
