Gigabyte P35G v2 Bios Unlock
#1
Hello everyone.
What a wonderful site of fellow tech-heads; I might end up sticking around Smile

I have a gigabyte P35g v2 laptop which gets far too hot for my liking.
I also don't do anything that would benefit greatly from Hyperthreading.
I also, also (lol) seem to have a very low voltage chip, remaining stable at -86mv in IntelXTU (i7 4710HQ)
As such, I'm hoping to disable hyperthreading, and lower the core voltage in XTU once it's unlocked.

Using a P34Gv2 I can confirm the options are there in the BIOS once unlocked, but I'm having a bit of a hard time confirming I'm doing the right thing

The original instructions I found are here
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/...st-9496997

All i'm trying to do is enable this "under the "Control Group Structures" column, an entry called "Hidden Function."" so that I can lower voltages, and turn off HyperThreading.

This is my BIOS (i'm currently running this one, the latest)
http://download.gigabyte.asia/FileList/B...c-f008.zip

If someone could repackage this and confirm if I can still use Gigabytes own SmartFlash tool to flash it, that'd be very appreciated Smile

Thanks everyone;

Scythe.

EDIT:
Just to make it easy, this is from the notebookcheck thread, the P35G bios is quite similar to the P34G from what I can tell:
Code:
Turns out Gigabyte actually included a convenient "Hidden Function" switch (under Advanced),
which, when set from ENABLED to DISABLED, unlocks a bunch of extra BIOS features, including:

Adjustable TDP in Intel XTU
(disable Platform Power Limit Lock and Package Power Limit Lock in Advanced > CPU Configuration)

Variable Number of Cores

Disable Hyperthreading

And a lot more I haven't gotten a chance to explore yet!

Here's an album of all the unlocked menus: http://imgur.com/a/sHsRH

Wow, 40+ views and no one's managed so far. Glad I didn't try this alone!
I will try making the mods tonight, but I'll upload the files for checking by people I guess.

Hi friend,
I wrote tons this phrases and googling You find It easy !

Hi friend,

Here is the last AMIBCP version 4.55 :

http://rghost.net/59893020

Here is a Tutorial to modify AMI Aptio Bios :

http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads...MSR-unlock!

Follow CodeRush Suggestions :

It's certanly not so easy for BIOSes with another menu setup, but the whole idea is the same.
I could also recommend trying AMIBCP to modify menu entries vilibility from "Default" to "USER",
if your menu setup is more complex then a setup above.

I have to flash my image on the administrator commandline using afuwinx64 bios_mod.rom /GAN . . .
Otherwise it gives me a security error (Thanks again CodeRush)

Let me know
Regards

P.S. all procedure is correct only Fhashing is to execute as CodeRush said (as Admin) !

Thank you for the reply.

I'm still really nervous about trying this myself, especially since when I unpack the EXE to reach the bios files, there are two, both at exactly 8MB. While I can modify both, I don't know which one I'll need to try flashing

What you describe is exactly what I'll be doing. Changing the menu to USER, that is all.
The menu is there, the features are there, just hidden.

Hello, I need help with one step:

"5. Under the stuff you just unzipped, go to \BIOS\BIOS.BIN, and copy the file that's exactly 8MB to a different directory."

I have TWO files that are exactly 8MB:
P35V2BF.B0C
and
P35V2BF.D0C

I'm running Windows 8.1 x64.

I've opened them in AMIBCP, and from what I can tell they're identical, one was packaged 14 seconds after the first (in the version string).
They look the same in notepad++ too; no obvious 'header' to the file to explain their difference.
All the options in the menus appear identical when being explored.

Can anyone advise?

Still no ideas?

Are there any other BIOS modding communities that might be able to help?
