HP Z440 Intel SR20Z support
#1
Hi, I own an HP Z440 workstation currently with Intel Xeon E5 1650v3 CPU, but I am looking for ways to upgrade and Intel Xeon E5 2678v3 (SR20Z) seems like one of the most interesting choices for LGA2011-3 platform. The HP's CPU support list is sadly quite short and it caps at 8core CPUs and from my ininital research it seems that this CPU won't be OOB supported on my platform.

I was wondering if there is a way to mod the mobo into supporting these CPUs

BIOS .bin file is attached, extracted form the installer. If needed, I believe I could be able to get a machine with earlier BIOS (I am not sure of signature checking process on HP). Below are CPU-Z and AIDA screenshots

Explain exactly what happens when you try to boot with your E5-2678 v3.

in case anyone else ends up here - the z440 supports the e5-2678v3 w/o any mods (at least with the official 02.56 bios). I have one in mine
