Help. does BIOS need to be modified for swapping CPU on a netbook?
#1
Hello everyone.
i Have an old Lenovo ideapad s10-3c, i already unlocked hidden menus and changed splash screen in bios myself, now i wanted to change a CPU which is Intel Atom N455, and i want to change it on a Atom D2700, they are pin-compatible and netbook chipset NM10 seems to support this CPU. I want to know is there any pitfalls in my plan, and will it be necessary to change something in BIOS? Thanks.

Today, i tried to add up microcodes for d2700, i got them from another BIOS of Asus VX6S. When i opened MMTool, it showed only one microcode, when i tried to add necessary microcodes, it left in ROM only the one that showed up and my two others which i added up. So, i decided to extract all microcodes with MCExtractor and re-insert them into bios and so did i, then i flashed ROM with all microcodes re-inserted (but one looked like it was corrupted, so i left it, i checked my current CPU do not uses it) and two from VX6S BIOS, then i flashed it, and now it bricked!(shows black screen). What should i do now?

So, my question now is how to add new microcodes into bios without removing others? Since MMTool does not work for me, is there another way to do it? I found some articles where was explained how to replace microcodes with editing FIT table, will it also work for adding new or i need other technique?

EDIT1: Just found out that my bios does not have FIT table, or i do not understand something. Can someone explain it to me?

Adding microcode will not add support for new CPU.
Atom D2700 supports DDR3 only.

My motherboard has DDR3, could it theoretically run or there are any other problems?

N455 and D2700 aren't compatible.
So it's impossible.

I was looking in a similar swap. n550 to d2700 guess thats non compatable as well? Can you elaborate?
