Intel DX58SO: Xeon support
#1
Hi all!
This is my first thread here.
I have a Smackover, Intel DX58SO, and an unsupported(yet) CPU.
It is an E5530ES and, after I did some researching, I think the reason It dosn't start my mobo it's that the Smackover don't have the E5530ES microcode.
For now I have an Asrock X58 Extreme mobo that shows me the CPU microcode in BIOS.
Is there any method to have my DX58SO running the E5530ES?

Sorry but we cannot modify intel bioses because they use their own special format. The most we are able to do are SLP/SLIC mods Sad

No unlocking or microcode editing etc is currently possible for these boards

Sorry

did you try popping the cpu in ?most likely it recognize it since it supports the i7 965 the non ecc capable twin and has support for the xeon's ecc support and the newer xeons

Ya that is what i thought as well. When i installed the CPU into the board it wouldnt boot. fans all run ith would automatically resart then run with the Hot CPU Light on the board. All pins are straight and heat sink is mounted correctly. maybe a bad Motherboard. especially since i was running it in an orignal DX58so with no problems(which also claims no support) Any Ideas?

Hi all, I have been running the same rig, i7 920 on an older intel DX58SO motherboard with 8gb DDR3 for like 8 years now, and I want to swap it out for a xeon x5660 that I bought on ebay to squeeze a couple more years out of my PC. When I put the cpu in, the PC turned on with no display, turned off after a few seconds and turned on again with still no display. I think the issue is I need to update my motherboard's BIOS, but intel has removed any downloads for the DX58SO motherboard from their website as of a few months ago I think. Is there any workaround for this?

Try to find file SOX5810J.86A.5600.BI.ZIP
E.g. http://web.archive.org/web/2019112223083...600.BI.ZIP
