Intel RAID 8.7.0.1007 ICH9R version
#1
I found this ICH9R version of Intel RAID Option ROM 8.7.0.1007. This is different than the 8.7.0.1007 on the resources site which is for ICH10R. This file is 66KB as opposed to 80KB and it says ICH9R inside of it. I have not yet had a chance to test it. I got it from an Asus BIOS for the P5E3. P5E3-ASUS-1502.ROM

This should allow SSDs to work well on ICH9R boards.

By the way, I noticed that 8.0.0.1006 (which is, unfortunately, a pre-alpha version of the 8.0.0 option ROM) says ICH8M in it.

Feel free to use/link/host any BIOS I post, no credit necessary. However, this is at your own risk and I take no responsibility. Always keep a backup of a known-good BIOS. Don't flash a motherboard if you don't have a backup computer just in case.

Always use RAID mode. RAIDFix

May have jumped the gun in assuming that this would work where other 8.x roms don't... Doesn't seem to work in my friend's Dell Inspiron 530 which had 7.5 stock and 7.6 working from me... Although I have yet to check it out myself (had him flash it w/o me around).

Thank you Dansolo for this option rom for ICH9R!
Before I integrated 8.0.0.1030 for ICH10R in my Asus P5E-Deluxe BIOS and it woked well but this motheboard has only a ICH9R onboard and so it was not the correct rom version for my board.
But now with your uploaded ROM version everything works fine and ICH9R is written in the option ROM boot dialog.
I will attach the modified Asus P5E Deluxe BIOS, mybe somebody will need it?

Thanks
Regards

Okay, I got this OROM working in the 1.0.18 BIOS for the Inspiron 530 (as opposed to the 1.0.16 I had been using since some people had complained of other issues with 1.0.18, though my friend's computer seems fine with it)

I have a Dell XPS 420 with A07 bios, and cannot get it to boot off of a Patriot Inferno SSD nor can I install Windows 7 on it, get a message about RAID controller not supporting booting off the disk.

I don't need any SLIC mods, just change out the 7.6.1.1001 ICH9R firmware for something newer that supports SSD. I tried turning off the RAID, and that makes my eSATA port not work, which really isn't a viable option for me.

I understand that pretty much any of the 8.x firmware for the ICH9R should work, but this is a new venture for me.

BIOS LINK: ftp://ftp.dell.com/bios/XPS420-A07.EXE

I found the offset that the ICH9R option rom starts at in the XPS420-A07.hdr file, it starts at 5A685.

How do I know what the module type and section types are? Is it B and 08? Something different?

How do I determine where the next section/module starts?

Can I use the .bin file with the hdr tool? I have the ICH9R version 8.7.9.1007 bin file, and if I use lzss-r.exe to convert to a .rom, its all garbled and doesn't resemble the code I see in the split-out .rom files.

All I think I need to do is figure out where the next module starts, and what the section and module types are, and I can build a new bios that has ICH9R 8.x firmware in it and my SSD should work.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks

Sorry but your mod will have to have a SLIC 2.1 mod because this is the only way we can get dell bioses split into their modules to do the replacement and build them all back together again without the corruption you described! Just because you have it doesnt mean you have to use it. Just its the only way.

Try this at your own risk , ive replaced v7.6.1.1001 with v8.0.0.1039. If this works and you would like us to try an even higher version , just post back and we will be happy to mod it Smile

Still shows up as 7.6.1.1001 everywhere. dansolo posted 8.7.9.1007 in this thread, can you inject that into the A07?

Strange , il inject 8.7.9.1007 tomorrow - its late now and you should never try bios modding when half asleep Tongue
