Ivy-Bridge Support for Lenovo H61 Mainboard
#1
Hi,

I have issues with installing a i5 3570 on my H61-Mainboard. The originally installed CPU was a Sandybridge Pentium G840. If I put in the i5 and power on the fans starts spining but I neither hear POST nor there appears something on the screen. I tried to implement the Microcode for Ivybridge, but I have the same result. Maybe an old Intel ME Version is the matter?

Bios download link: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds019028
I searched after the cpu sspec of the i5 and think this is the right: http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SR/SR0T7.html

The Board is a IH61M Mainboard by Lenovo in the VER 1.0. It has a 4mb Bioschip "9QKT23A4MB"

I hope you can help me.

Lukas

Bad news: only BIOS chip replacement can help to add Ivy Bridge support.
You need 8 MB.

Also you need ME8 in original BIOS from Lenovo. I did not check your BIOS, but if it's currently ME7 you cannot update it yourself to ME8 that has to be done by manufacture because a lot of modules need updated at same time.

Lost_N_BIOS
ME8 is not required for Ivy Brigde: GA-H67N-USB3-B3 has ME firmware version 7.0.4.1197 and it supports this core.
But special initialisation code in BIOS is needed. Current BIOS hasn't it and there is no simple way to add it.

Thanks, I was not aware Ivy could work with ME7. Only certain chipsets allow that, or I mean some do not allow it (HM65, no Ivy on ME7 or ME8)?
