I'm also looking for an unlock on the W530 - trying to go from the included Gobi3000 to Gobi4000 4g WWAN card and hitting the 1802 roadblock.

Can anyone advise?

From what I've read elsewhere the TWx30 series uses a Phoenix Securecore BIOS, which means it does its own checksum when flashing and thus outside of a manufacturer it's nearly impossible to mod. It's easy enough to download and mod, but because the checksum doesn't match anymore you can't flash it back...

This appears to be a problem with a number of machines, dating back a year or more.

Sad

Let me know if you hear anything differently.

I cannot get all the software to do my own modding to work on Windows 7 professional, so I need help with this.

Current BIOS - Lenovo G5ET61WW (2.03) 09/13/2012 2436-CTO
I dumped it using the Universal BIOS backup tool to a .rom file but cannot attach it.

There is a newer version is G5UJ10UC available. Was not able to attach that 5M .exe file, so not sure how to get that to you either.

I don't follow this last conclusion. If the flashing does a checksum, then when you flash it should update. If the checksum can never change then the manufacture would not be able to ever flash as well.

Can you please explain this more?

.txt   BIOS Update Utility g5uj10us.txt (Size: 21 KB / Downloads: 10)

I'm also trying to unlock the whitelist on LENOVO W530 (2436CTO)
ReleaseDate 09-13-2012
BIOS G5ET61WW (2.03 )

I could not get the executable g5uj10us.exe to load in an attachment either but attached the instruction. Here is a link:

Hello,

Would anyone be able to get this bios modded for the Lenovo W530

I got a 802.11ac wifi inter card and I'm stuck, 1802 unauthorized.

bios 2.54
g5uj16us

I attached the bios file but it's also at the following link:

http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj16us.exe

Thank you

I think, this bios (modified) can't be flashed. Maybe ... with HW programmer only.
