M2N32-SLI DELUXE, Please help :)
#1
Hello, and thanks for reading my post,

i have a M2N32-SLI Deluxe on BIOS 5002, i just purchased a brand new GPU a XFX Radeon HD 5850 1GB DDR5 HDMI Dual DVI

Also purchased new PSU, Thermaltake ToughPower XT 875W

My previous card was Nvidia 8600GT, i thought i would upgrade it along with my PSU

i get home and set it all up, and it fails to post with the HD 5850 in which i found was weird, so i took it back out and put in my old GPU the NV 8600GT which posted fine.

i reset bios with jumper on the motherboard which reset the bios but didnt fix my HD 5850 posting problem, i took out bios battery after that and took out power cord, pressing on button a few times to discharge the powersupply, then wait 1-2 minutes

i tryed again to boot with the HD 5850 installed just sits there at black screen without posting or making any noise at all

so i put the NV 8600GT back in to look into it, i googled it and found the Asus has some compatibity problems with the 5xxx series cards on M2N32-SLI Deluxe, but had no released a bios to fix this

however they have released bios for other boards such as M2N-SLI Deluxe and other similar boards to fix the system not posting with HD 5xxx cards, but not the M2N32-SLI Deluxe

i also noticed, that you have made a custom bios for the M2N-SLI Deluxe which fixes some post issues for 5xxx cards.

Proper detection of newer AM2+/AM3 CPUs.
Fix for Radeon 5XXX series POST issues.

I am just wondering if u can take a look at the M2N32-SLI Deluxe bios rom to see if there is anything you can do to help me with this very frustrating issue,

here is a link to most updated bios released for the M2N32-SLI Deluxe which i'm currently useing (5002) (also tryed 2207 2208 2209, which didn't post with 5850 installed)

Edit: some more info (don't know if this helps)

Hi fluff,

This indeed is a frustrating issue that has happened on a lot of boards with the 5xxx cards. I will look into the issue and see what I can do.

Still checking into things, but I am leaving on vacation tommorow and won't have time to finish my investigation. It is my understanding the 5xxx had an issue with PCI express slots that werent 2.1 slots. I will keep on this as soon as I return, but I urge you to post who you bought the card from. The PSU is fine, but if it is from a seller like NewEgg, I highly reccommend explaining the situation and see if you can at least RMA the item. If you also want, if you call whoever the seller was etc. and they give you a hard time we can setup a time for them to call me and I'll give them the BIOS-Mods support. I would like to keep studying the issue, but would like to make sure my lengthy research doesn't cost you money.

is there no way u can port the m2n-sli deluxe 5xxx fixes to m2n32-sli deluxe rom, they are similar boards, i dont need wireless firewire etc to work thats not a problem :p
