MSI B85I ClickBios 4 administrator password remove request
#1
Hello folks!

I´m new here. Found this forum after a 2 years of searching. 5 years ago i got a PC with MSI mainboard from a friend. Everything was cool with this PC, but one day i´ve decided to setup a admin pw on this thing. I dont remember why i did this, and also i do not remember the passwort anymore. In In this 2 years I ve tried many passwords that i actually use, aswell i ve tried all the methods described on the internet, JBAT, CMOS Battery removal combined with taking the board from electricity supply for couple of months. Also tried all kind of software tools, some of them were from 1998. Yeah all the universal pw like "AAAMMMIII", "LKWPETER" and all this did not given me ANY result. So today i´ve figured out by reading this forum, why the password dont dissapeare. There was an tricky option, that i ve turned off. This option called "Clear Password", and if you set it off, the pw is saved somewhere a section where it cannot be deleted. Not even by reflashing bios. Long story short, now i´m here and pretty desperate, and begging you guys to help me. I´ve started trying to dump & mod by myself, but i get error messages when i try to use fpt. Yeah and there was also a warning by a advanced user, if i dont exactly know what i actually doing, i should put my fingers away. Otherwise i will end up with a bricked pc.
Thats why i ve decided to start a tread and asking you guys for help. please help me someone! :)

regards

I want to apologize for my bad english. I dont speak the language native, but i was pretty good at the english class in my school. :)

Make current dump of BIOS by Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0.

Wow, thank you for the quick response. As far as i got the informations right, i ve to backup/dump my bios but before that i have to kill cmos or reset it to defaults. I want to mention, my uefi is going crazy after that. Maybe its normal, but i describe in few steps whats actually going on. After reset i'll get the message that settings are restored to defaults. Press F1 to get into bios, F2 to continiue. Pressing F2 result same as pressing F1 - the pw dialog window comes up. Pressing ctrl+alt+del. Pc restarts, the message of restored settings is not apearing anymore. The pc stays couple of seconds on the bootlogo (military class IV etc) then it turns itself off, and on again. From here it is booting windows normally. Is this an issue? I dont want actually ending up with a bricked firmware or something. Please dont get me wrong i will explain: i do not doubt the knowledge and professionality of the helping people out here. I'm actually overwelmed that there are people, like you guys, that spend their time to help others. I just saying, maybe its an important information. Smile

No dump - no help with password. Boot in Windows without CMOS reseting and make current dump of BIOS.

the dialog is in german languge. BTW directly after CMOS reset, at the point when i ve to press f1 or f2 the dialog window is in english. after ctrl alt del and the off/on of the pc, the dialog window change language to german. maybe this off/on sequence after clearing cmos is cuz the bios restores old values that was saved by me. I remember that i did set up the german language and also saved some profiles.

1. Make DOS USB-stick (e.g, by Rufus).
2. Download AMI Flash Utilities
3. Extract and copy files from amiflash\Aptio\afudos\afudos.zip\AfuDos\ to USB stick with native DOS
4. Boot from bootable USB stick with native DOS
5. Run
afudos bios.rom /o
6. If All OK then run
afudos bios.rom /gan
7. Make a photo of the screen with results and attach file bios.rom
