MSI Master2 Far7 AGP card mod

I have a MSI Master2 FAR7 motherboard with bios version 1.2 (http://download1.msi.com/files/downloads...VMS120.zip)

but it doesn't support my video card Powercolor HD3850 or HIS HD4670, the system boot without any problem even the os start, but I have no video at all.

These are 8x AGP card and even if they claim the board is 8x compatible analyzing the BIOS with Modbin I noticed only a multiplier up to 4x.

I know this sounds like a stupid question but what is the chipset on that board?
and have you tried maybe borrowing a nvidia x8 agp card to see if that will boot and load windows?

Unfortunately I don't have an Nvidia a card and I don't know anyone with an 8x nVidia card.

The video cards have an ATI chipset and the motherboard has a VIA K8T800 Pro chipset, both cards works on my other system that has an ASUS SK8V mainboard with a VIA K8T800 chipset.

The board works with a Sapphire x1950 Pro that should be 8x and with a Matrox G450 that is 4x.

Do either of the cards that aren't working on this board have power connectors?
the reason I ask is, I have an GF6800OC AGP on my desktop. and I had a bad extension cord going to the power socket of this card. and it would show the post screen but would go blank when windows started loading. now this may not be the case entirely, As I would also get a tester and check that your psu has enough power for everything in your system and the new hardware. I'm not saying you over looked these things, I'm just trying to eliminate all possibilities. Make sure your not getting faults when testing psu. i can'teven count how many times i have gotten bad psu right from the store. I had a store locally that i would get psu's from and they hated me cause I would have a tester in hand. and they couldn't say no really cause they would basically be admitting they didn't care if they sold faulty psu's. did you buy the new cards new from online site or store. i could be pssible they are partially DOA. like I said just trying to eliminate all possibilities.

The Power supply is an LC metatron of 1 kW that can give 36 A on the 12 V rail.
On another system that has only 1 CPU is sufficient to let both card work.

Well did you check that wall the cables and connectors are working properly,
I also asked if your card had a dedicated power connector on the card itself?

The connector work fine because I mounted the power supply on another system withe the same video card and they both worked.

The HD3850 has a dedicated PCi-Express connection while the HD4670 a 4 pin connector.

On the other system that has an asus SK8V all the things work perfectely.

I guess what I meant to say was did you jiggle the power connector on the video card while the system was running to verify the connector isn't loose!

that's very odd!?! ok well attach your bios to your next post as the one your gave at the beginning is a broken link. I will take a look inside and see what I can find. Also it might be helpful to know if the card will boot to windows on a different system with the same problem or not!?!
