Make Bios accept 8GB Ram modules....
#1
Lightbulb
Hi everyone
I don't know if this question is well-posed... I ask it based on my ignorance of the subject.
It is possible to achieve a BIOS modification that a laptop accepts 8GB DDR3 RAM modules?
I have a Lenovo G460 Laptop computer and according to the documentation collected it only accepts a maximum of 2 modules of 4 GB each.
I wanted to know if I could achieve a configuration with two modules of 8 each to achieve 16 GB in total... Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Hi, looks like your processor will only support 8GB DDR3 max. I recommend getting 2 x 4GB PC3-8500 (check its ddr3 and NOT ddr3l, as its not compatible with that).

If you would like to upgrade your CPU, please provide me with the laptop model and i'll look into upgrading possibilities.

CPU with Arrandale supports only 2x4GB SODIMM with 16 chips (8 on each side).
No BIOS mods can help.
P.S. All DDR3L (1.35V) SODIMM can work as usual DDR3 (1.5V)

I have a Toshiba U500 1DZ, I put the i7-740QM, same chipset.
Works with 8go ddr3L ram.

i7-740QM has Clarksfield core. It supports 4x8GB SODIMM.
