O=) From one BIOS to another
#1
Ok, I'll try to keep this to the point. Board is Biostar A780L3L. Biostar has 2 AMI Bios Downloads for it: intital BIOS 78LCP607.BSS released with the board and a more recent update 78LCP128.BSS.

Initial release 78LCP607.BSS has an overvolt tab that I've unlocked myself (Biostar hid it after the board when into production) it only adds +0.10 -- +0.30v to a 1.4000v cap MAX.

Updated release 78LCP128.BSS doesn't have that overvolt setting and the best OC I can get is 3.72Ghz with an Athlon II x2 250.

The updated BIOS seems more stable and it's default settings are easier to OC with. What I'd like to do is "ADD" the overvolt feature to the updated BIOS. The update is a revision, and the tab still exists where the overvolt once was. (forgot to mention, I've unlocked the tab "voltage" in both versions, but the recent updated one is still more stable)

Is the drop n' drag with AMIBCP 3.4 able to let me drag the setting from one to the other? Is there a code I can just cut and paste? I'm doing this more for a challenge and learning exp as this is kinda fun. Yes I'm aware of bricking Big Grin

Also, there is a 3rd board just like mine that has crazy volt settings and a nearly identical bios file, wouldn't mind figuring out how to get the x30 multiplier from it to paste into my x 15 or the 1.5v setting limit to copy over my 1.4v. I had hoped changing User Rights to Supervisor or Extended User would've done this but it couldn't be that easy LOL.

Anyone who's unlocked BIOS understand what I'm asking?

Both Bios versions I'm tinkering with are here:

http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/bios.php?S_ID=495

If you're interested, you can change .BSS to .ROM and load the file into AMIBCP 3.4 from the downloads setting. Under the 1st tab to the left, will bring up a box with all the BIOS settings with check marks next to them. The Setting I'm dealing with is under "Performance" , than right under CPU tuning is the "Overvolt" tab. My copies already have it ticked with a check mark, but it should be easy to spot if you're curious how these setting are locked out, this is a simple way to see.

Any PRO's lurking who can advise if a setting swap is doable? I'll do it myself, just need an idea of what gets swapped?
What if I removed a non essential setting and used it's location to replace with something else? I read something similar elsewhere, but he was talking about some other stuff I wasn't familiar with and it was an old post.
