#11
Are you sure I cant place a xeon X5XXX as the xeon x3363 costs 3x more than an X5XXX, I live in a country where everything is 4x more expensive than in USA >Sad

i also plan to do so .

i want vt-x and demand based switching features to eb enabled.
can i i use x3350 directly.. or should i get x3353 as that is tested by few ? i am on latest official bios .
why is bios mod needed ?

here is a relevant thread..

Hmm, e3323 (771 with adapter) and x3220 (775) don't work on my 755 USFF...

I read, that the BIOS would support these... But i got "Unsupported CPU. System Halted"...

what can I do? Have the newest BIOS

...i am requesting a bios microcode based on the LGA 771 mod
Post is for LGA 771 NOT Q based processors

for reference Confirmed CPU support by dell

Bios download links (would prefer Serg008 for mod)

the CPU i want support for: (Core 2 Quad Q9550s\SLGAE\06)

i would like to add microcode support specifically for USSF\Q35 motherboards

What happens?
motherboard powers on fine with my Q9550s CPU, however, i can't pass post (System Halted, Unsupported CPU!)

i also have many 755 units to attempt flashing, Bricking these units isn't an issue.

any other specifications you require, please post reply...

*i will post motherboard snapshot tommorow

Your native BIOS already has microcodes for CPUID=1067A, version A0C, date 10/03/2011.
Your revision of motherboard don't support this CPU due hardware limitation - the number of voltage regulator.
Error Unsupported CPU and warning Incompatible Processor has different reasons.

thanks for the reply, DeathBringer....since the "voltage regulator" is to blame.

would you know, what is the best cpu for "this motherboard revision" of the Q35 chipset? maybe a Q6xxx Etc?

reason i am asking, is even though there is microcode support present, compatibility is different on each motherboard form factor

i cannot find an accurate cpu support list for the (USFF motherboard), due to people speculating all over the web.

if you know of an accurate support list (for this revision \ not the dell official) that would be awesome, much appreciated.

I need screenshots of first (CPU), third (Mainboard) and fourth (SPD) tabs of CPU-Z.
I think your motherboard can run any Core 2 Duo, but can't - any Core 2 Quad. Core 2 Duo E8600 is best CPU for your motherboard.

I still have my X5460 from when I did the Inspiron 545 mod on here.

I have a Dell Optiplex 755 full tower with a q35 chipset, does this support the X5xxx processors?

My Dell Precision only supports the X53xx and X51XX processors.. X5460 mod for that too?

Q35 chipset doesn't support Xeon 5400 series.
