Packard Bell BV Store bought
#1
Hello,
I am new to unlocking bios and I have absolutely no clue what to do. I hope I am posting in the right place with the right information.
I want to unlock the bios features which enable me to overclock my cpu as I understand my cpu has a lot of head room for overclocking and ArmA II is highly CPU dependant. (I have ideal GPU and RAM) just want to push the CPU further.

I tried software overclocking as I have managed to successfully locate the PLL number and I thought I was homefree. But the software overclocking programs (SoftFSB, Clockgen, CPUcool) yielded no results as they do not allow you to save the settings without registering the software.

I tried the universal bios backup tool but it did not work. [EDIT] I got it working and uploaded the file here http://www.mediafire.com/?9xp9vi5ykz6s0sy [EDIT] So hopefully this screenshot of the mainboard tab from CPU-Z will help. If you need more information please let me know. It's annoying having these settings locked when i know my processor is capable of much more. Thanks for your time in advance.

May I know the complete name of your computer, including model name/number? Can you give download link to original BIOS file? Universal Backup Tool unable to dump full & flashable Phoenix BIOS image. It missing platform data.

I am struggling to find the full name and model of the computer. I don't have the paperwork anymore. though I am relatively sure it's a Packard Bell BV Iextreme bought from PCworld (UK) around 2007.

Is there any other way I can find the information you need? I will be as helpful as possible but you will have to be patient with my lack of experience in the area of bios updates.
Don't know if the sticker on the bottom of the unit is of any use;

PART ID: 6987690700
SERIAL NO: NO1IMZ73502044
From the sticker on the back;

iextreme Y8520
I think I found the information you need, hope that helps. I cannot find the download link to my BIOS.

All of the information from the sticker on the back;

Model/Type Ref: M0Z-CLA
MS Model: BCLR0
Product name: IXTREME Y8520

OK. The computer model is Packard Bell BV Iextreme Y8520. Next is the original BIOS. You probably can still find the original BIOS at manufacturer website. It is important that the BIOS is original BIOS file, not backup BIOS. Take your time. No need to rush.

The file may be there but the problem is the model numbers do not match. If you go to this link;

http://www.packardbell.co.uk/pb/en/GB/content/download

Go, Desktop > Iextreme

the list of models comes up, but none match my PC or are even close.

Sorry, I can't find the BIOS file for your desktop. You can try request a copy of BIOS image from Packard Bell.
