[REQ] Acer Aspire 7738G - Microcode update for Intel core T7300
#1
Bug
Hello everyone. I hope I post this in the correct section. I have a Acer Aspire 7738G running Windows XP for retro gaming and since I got it from e-waste it has this error at startup:

02F0: CPU ID: FB No Microcode Update Loaded for Alternate Processor
  Press F1 to continue

I know it's an old laptop and obsolete The laptop works fine, never had any issue but it's annoying to do this every time. Laptop has an Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 @ 2.0 Ghz processor in it. According to the stickers on the laptop, it looks like this is not the original processor.

I tried to update the BIOS to the latest one I could find online which is V2.12 (will zip it and upload it here) but no luck. Can anyone help me fix this please?

Thank you Smile

Hi. Thank you for your quick reply. I have flashed your mod but unfortunately that didn't changed anything.  Sad

Make current BIOS dump to check it.
E.g. by Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0
BTW: running JV70212.EXE will not help.

Ohh, I did use JV70212.EXE to flash it, I just replaced the .wph file in the folder with yours. Could you guide me a bit here? I'm kinda n00b.

And also here is the backup file of my BIOS, saved with Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0

JV70212.EXE doesn't use external file JV70212.WPH
Make and boot from DOS USB-stick (e.g. by Rufus).
And flash by phlash16.exe

Or use WinPhlash

Amazing! It works!!! I did created an DOS USB bootable stick with Rufus and added your file and the phlash16.exe and managed to flash it!! I had to use /x option to bypass the "cannot flash when memory managers are present" error but it worked!

Thank you very much for all your support!
