[REQUEST] Acer Aspire E1-731-10054G50Mnii
#1
Wink
Hiya all,

Tried finding a modded version of this BIOS, even started trying to hack it myself, but it's just out of reach of my knowledge. So if possible I would like to request the hidden menu's to be enabled through a post here.

Model: Aspire E1-731-10054G50Mnii
Manufacturer: Acer
Original BIOS download link: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/...SC=EMEA_18
System BIOS version: V2.30

Same Original BIOS download link but on sendspace:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/q83ok1

I've ran Backup Tool12 and put the results on sendspace here:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/irk5mf

Also added are the screenshots from the BIOS menu below:

If anything else is needed, let me know.

You posted Bios v. 2.30 which is Insyde and I have already unlocked, but result file
shows an AMI Bios AS686 2.40 version and It seems to be an Asrock Z87 Ex6 Bios ?
I think You have uploaded the wrong result !
Let me know
Regards

To unlock AMI Aptio Bios = actual result file posted look here :

My bad indeed. I had it ran on my normal system first to check what was inside it. Forgot to clean it up.

The new results are placed. Unfort. I get some messages about Protected Range Registers. Unsure if that's a problem or not.

Ps. Jeez, that's fast response. Massive thanks! I'll make sure to donate some ^^

Thanks for the mod. Results are in:

[results]

Error 28: Protected Range Registers are currently set by BIOS, preventing flash access.
Please contact the target system BIOS vendor for an option to disable Protected Range Registers.

[/results]

So unfortunately it wasn't able to flash the bios. Any tips/tricks? You've mentioned something about a sleep bug? Also, do u know if it (by chance) enabled the option to change video memory size? At the moment it's limited to 64mb and I have about 8gb in this thing, so would be awesome if that's possible. Usually a BIOS has that option, but it appears to be locked.

Ps, donation has been send nonetheless: 07H14855UX325520X

We can try the Sleep Bug so follow this guide :

Put the laptop into Sleep Mode and then Wake-Up It then try to flash the Bios Mod
from Windows, so move modified folder into C: HD root place and open a Comand Prompt
with Admin Rights !
Then execute these comands (hit ENTER after any comand) :

cd \

cd modified

fptw.exe -f bios.bin -bios

Or for x64

fptw64.exe -f bios.bin -bios

if You will get again error and not PASSED then only na HW SPI PGM You have to get !

Finally got the laptop out of my wifes hands and tried it, but unfort. it wouldn't pass:

Steps I followed:
- Open CMD in admin mode
- Put laptop in sleep mode
- Woke up laptop
- Ran command as seen in screenshot

(also tried with steps 1 and 2 switched)

What does this mean?
