[REQUEST] Dell Precision T3600 Xeon E5 v2 Support
#1
Hello everyone, I have a Dell Precision T3600 with a Xeon E5-1607. I would like to upgrade the CPU to something in the Ivy Bridge EP series of Xeons (E5-XXXX v2), but Dell's BIOS prevents such things. The T3610 supports E5 v2 chips and I have heard that people have cross flashed, but also that some people have bricked their T3600 by doing so. The BIOS that Dell provides only provides support for Sandy Bridge EP, and I would like to put E5 v2 CPUs in my Precision. My Precision has a C600 chipset, and for some reason dell provides support for the PowerEdge servers with the C600/X79 chipset but not the C600 chipset in the Precision. I am a complete noob at such things and would like help with modding the BIOS. Thank you for reading:  Big Grin .

Post a screenshot of Mainboard tab of CPU-Z.
Explain exactly what happens when you try to boot with new CPU (E5-XXXX v2).
