[REQUEST] HP Mini 210-2000 - Whitelist removal
#21
(12-02-2014, 05:05 AM)pr09het Wrote: Hi both,

Could one of you post the bios please? Smile I've just got a 210 and tried putting a spare Intel 7260 card in.
I would try and follow the how-to but I'm at work and not particularly comfortable doing it!

Thanks in advance,
Ollie

Ollie: It doesn't work. So far the three entries in the BIOSlockpcie module have been modified, the BIOS has been rebuilt and flashed, but the Bluetooth lock still appears.

Therefore, your Intel 7260 will have to lie around for longer. Btw: I opened this thread because I want to use the exact same card as you (the dual band 802.11ac version with bluetooth included). My plan was to post it as soon as it worked.

Hi haggi,
Ahh I see, thank you anyway, is it worth checking on another? Angel
I'll keep subscribed to the thread and if/when there are updates, I'm happy to test out! Smile
Cheers,
Ollie

Hi Ollie,

For starters you will need the modified Insydeflash tool. I have zipped the directory containing the modified flashtool that will flash any BIOS with the file name "01584.fd" and therefore won't complain about checksums or signatures. The contained 01584.fd is the modified version (with the three small modifications mentioned earlier in this thread), however as these modifications are obviously not enough, the HP Mini will still not accept the Intel adapter. Otherwise the BIOS is functional; actually I didn't re-flash the official BIOS after flashing this modified one and the machine I am writing from in this moment has the BIOS image that I have attached via this link:

Anyone here who can help with this? Or is this a lost cause?

Ok friend,
excuse me for your wait, but I was busy !
Have You patched the iscflash.dll library ?
Which module(s) have You Patched ?

Would You upload here for me your Bios Mod ?
Many Thanks
Regards

Hi BDMaster!

Yes, I patched iscflash.dll and the result is attached; it works flawlessly.
I modified it in the three relevant places (offsets 1000E070, 1000E330 and 1000E4A0) .
It's the iscflash.dll from the archive referenced in the link in my original post
that I modified and attached.

Regarding the BIOS itself:

In the BIOS file, the relevant module is the following:

offset 00004970 is:

59 84 C0 75 F4 6A 03 E8 E3 05 00 00 0F B6 C0 83

I changed it to

59 84 C0 EB F4 6A 03 E8 E3 05 00 00 0F B6 C0 83

(therefore only changing the "75" to "EB").

After modifying the iscflash.dll, I could indeed flash this and the Netbook booted. I now physically installed the wi-fi adapter, but what I didn't expect was the following:

The wi-fi adapter has built-in bluetooth functionality as well (which I don't even plan to use) and this ruins it for me...
the BIOS checks and finds a bluetooth device and therefore refuses to boot.

Modified iscflash.dll download link: https://www.sendspace.com/file/n288mg

Do you have any idea on how to bypass this Bluetooth device check/block?

Thank you so much,
Haggi

(11-26-2014, 07:28 AM)haggi Wrote: Hi All,

I've spent hours trying to modify the BIOS for this machine using the official method (from https://www.bios-mods.com/wiki/How_to_Re...nsyde_BIOS ), however after trying to use several versions of the Ezh2o tool I had to give up since none of them would open the BIOS file.

Is there anybody who is capable of unwhitelisting that BIOS?

Manufacturer and Model: HP Mini 210-2000
BIOS revision: Insyde, F.24
BIOS link: http://h30639.www3.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp...p55494.exe

If needed, screenshots of the system overview in the BIOS can be attached.

There's not a single unwhitelisted version of this BIOS on the net; I found one single link from 3 years ago, however the sendfile container didn't exist anymore.

It's a nice machine that's being used daily - and now, in order to extend its life, there's a modern wi-fi adapter lying around, just waiting to get used with that machine.

If somebody manages to do this, this would be like x-mas and and easter (umm?) at once. I'm gonna send a manually signed postcard including x-mas present to whoever manages to unwhitelist this (no joke, you have my word!).

Thanks a lot,
Haggi

I have a HP mini 210-2200 notebook.
I upgraded HDD with a SSD. Windows are installed but after installing updates or drivers etc it keeps getting to restart repair.
I'm trying to switch AHCI or IDE compatible mode to make it work.
The BIOS file is the same as the one in this thread (sp55494.exe)

Will this modded BIOS do the work for me, or does it only unlocks the wifi?
Thanks.
