[REQUEST] LGA 771 on old ASUS mobo
#1
hello, i recently got my hands on a XEON E5440 SLBBJ with the lga 771 to 775 sticker mod on and i wanted to put it inh my old asus motherboard, i made a copy of the BIOS and tried to put a cpu patch in it so the cpu was recognized by the mobo, but it didnt work and i cant figure out why, could someone mod my bios please ?

motherboard: ASUS P5K31 VM/S (chipset g33 but it could be g31 or p35)
installed cpu: E8200 (for some reason my E8400 doesnt work with this mobo)

the original bios + my modifed one:
.rom   original.ROM (Size: 1 MB / Downloads: 1)
.rom   modified.ROM (Size: 1 MB / Downloads: 0)

1. Flash original firmware and boot with E8200.
2. Post a screenshot of Mainboard tab of CPU-Z.
3. Make DOS USB-stick (e.g, by Rufus), download and unzip all files for the modded version of CHECKUP7 to this DOS USB-stick.
4. Install your Xeon, boot from this DOS USB-stick and make a photo of the screen with results.

Did you flash original firmware?
Can you boot from that DOS USB-stick with E8200?
And you can test my mod.

installed the mod, than ran the DOS and it updated some things, then installed the xeon but the logo wouldnt even come up, ran the DOS again on the E8200 and now the issue of only the intel logo showing when booting with the xeon came back

So it's not microcode issue.

I think that your motherboard or Xeon have hardware problems.
