Hello maaaaax,

It sounds like you may have an overheating problem. Please be sure to *carefully and thoroughly* check the following:

1.) Is your CPU fan plugged in properly? This is a surprisingly common and easy mistake to make.
2.) Are you absolutely sure that you completely removed the old thermal paste from the new CPU as well as the heatsink? If so, are you absolutely sure that you properly applied new thermal paste to the CPU?
3.) Make sure that the both the heatsink and the fan are properly seated on the motherboard/CPU.

4.) If none of the above points helped you, look at your CPU temperatures while the computer is in operation. Do they continue to rise overtime until the machine shuts off?

I am going to move this thread to the CPU support requests forum. The long response time may have been due to the fact that this thread was posted in the confirmed upgrades forum. Threads in the confirmed forums are assumed to need no more attention as they have already been dealt with. Smile

!!!!!PLEASE READ!!!!!! Our Ukrainian friends are undergoing atrocities right now and need support. There are two things you can do for starters:

1.) Donate to one of various organizations offering medical, military, and psychological support to those impacted: Support Organizations

2.) Combat misinformation on social media.

Also, please feel free to PM me if I have not replied again about your BIOS mod request after 5 days.

There are many settings into ME Region too which can lock CPU Upgrade to protect the MoBo !
To edit these ones You need FITC = Intel Flash Image Tool is a chunck of FPT !
(not all Bioses can be opened as Fitc depends on CPU series).

Hi I have a Lenovo G500s 20245 with bios 2.03:

www.support.Lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/lenovo-g-500s-notebook

It has an I5-3230m, and I know that it can support up to an I7-3632qm, but I'd really like to install the i7-3840qm. Can someone please unlock the bios to allow me to do this? Smile

i5-3230M, i7-3632QM and i7-3840QM have the same CPUID=0306A9. Your BIOS has microcodes for CPUID=0306A9 version 15, date 08/07/2012.
No reason prevent booting i7-3840QM but it has TDP=45W and cooling system is designed for TDP=35W only. Your laptop with it will be overheated!
So best choice for you is i7-3612QM or i7-3632QM.

Hi
I have a laptop lenovo g500 20236. It has intel i3 3110m CPU. I want to upgrade to i5 3230m. But when I swap the cpu, pc going straight to black Screen. There is neither logo nor text, but power light is on and fan is working. If I install default cpu (i3 3110m) pc works completely fine. I thought BIOS can cause this problem, but its already latest version (v2.03). So what can we do to install i5 cpu?

1) remove AC jack, Main Battery, and CMOS Battery
2) remove HDD and all DIMMs
3) wait 10 mins
4) press and hold power button for 30 sec.
5) install new CPU
6) install CMOS Battery and one DIMM only
7) inject AC jack (without Main Battery!)
8) press power button
