[REQUEST] Lenovo G580 (20150) CPU support
#11
Sure, mine is 20150 and motherboard is same (on lenovo spare parts page) for g580 equiped with mine cpu and 3632qm (another example here for i7 3632qm http://www.mbc.ge/printable.php?productID=2677)

So I am only asking, if it is necessary to have modded bios. If you think so and I believe you know what you are doing/saying I will therefore cancel my order and buy bulletproof compatible i7 3612qm, which is better documented than 3632qm.

Thanks in advance.

I am not very experienced in this, but I can follow any manual
if there is something online.

so cpu is installed, working fine, passed every test, except turboboost... that is not working i believe.

Do U think, that moding bios will help?

Thx in advance.

edit: cpu-z is showing HM76, sorry for misinformation.

Hello all sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but im looking to play overwatch on my g580. the i7-3632QM has a slightly higher gpu speed than the i7-3612QM. Those are both 35 watt quad cores I hear or read that fit my g580, its the 20150 version and i have bios 9.01. Will I find success installing the 3632qm with all the features avail? Like turbo and whatnot. Thank you!!!! Smile

Thanks for the response! Sorry I didnt get back sooner. I have come across some information you may find useful or have already found, but I have some questions. CPU wise I would like atleast 3.3 ghz turbo QUAD cpu, no duals. But a big thing for me is squeezing the most out of the intel 4000 chip that I can. I dont know if you all are familiar with this page....

http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket%...988B).html

I have chipset HM76. Ive been leaning towards believing my little Celeron can be replaced with the beastliest CPU they make for this socket, 55 watt and all. I religiously use a coolermaster pad under my laptop so I'm not too concerned about heat yet, with my liberal quality thermal paste use. So mostly Im looking for a quad core with the most GPU performance. If you google the name of the CPU it will tell you the "Graphics maximum dynamic frequency". I think that is what I am looking for, a quad with the highest dynamic frequency for clockin up that integrated GPU as much as possible.

I want to play overwatch and diablo 3, some steam games. Mostly OverWatch. Is the i7-3940XM which has a max GPU frequency of 1.35 GHZ worth the extra funds and horsepower over the i7-3840QM with a gpu frequency max of 1.30 worth it at atleast a minimum at this time 100 dollars less expensive. I dont mind spending the extra cash unless its not worth it. Those two are the best performing/price for the socket that I have. Also I'd like to add my bios is completey updated although stock.

My current CPU is Celeron B830 (awful Intel 2000) at 35 watts. The jump to the i7 3840QM (intel 4000) is 45 watts  and then 55 watts for the i7 3940xm with the highest rated Intel 4000 GPU speed at 1.35 GPU. The power requirements does Would I need a different power supply? I heard something about that or read about it recently. Like I said, its running fine now with  Mushkin SDD and 8gb of ram. Very fast laptop for having such pitiful processor.

Sorry for the novel! I Hope to hear from someone soon. I provided pictures as well as requested. :p Plus the end of the title of 3940"xm"?  will that cause me some problems like, buying parts i have compatibility issues with?I have a g580 20150. I hope that is enough information, thank you!!! <3 Like, what if its the wrong socket? What if its a server CPU? Help me please. Thank you. Contact asap so I can get the ball rolling or if you know anyone selling either of those CPUs I'd ship em over. Love yall! Thanks so much for the help! Sorry for the barrage of information. It is 5 am and this was a really difficult post to write so forgive me for being sloppy and all over the place. Just needed to get it all out there and wait for a response.

OK. CPU's with TDP more than 35W aren't recommended. They will be overheating.
Install i7-3632QM or i7-3612QM. You can overclock internal Intel graphics by XTU.
BIOS mod isn't needed.
