Assistance is VERY much appreciated - please PM me your email address and I'll PayPal you a donation!

Thanks,

Hi friend,
I will modify all Bioses, but many manufacturers (Microsoft First) have Protected (UEFI Signed Firmware)
many Eeproms and all 530 Series is the Worth all have Error 280 = Eeprom Write Protect and not moddable
directly as We cannot rewrite Bios Mod into Eeproms so We have to use HW SPI External US Programmer
and a soic Pomona clip !!!

Look here :

https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...5#pid74575

https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...programmer

Unpack result file and first pic will show :

About Bios Mod I wil prepare also and I will upload here quickly, then You will decide what ro do.
For your U410 I have done many U310/410 Bios Mods and all gone well !
So there isn't problem !
I like experimnent ( I have two SPIPGM and do HW Re-Flow) !

Let me know

Hi friend,

Attached are the BIOS that I read using my hardware programmer. I took 2 copies to make sure they are both the same - if you could check for me please.

Can you do the whitelist removal and send back the modded BIOS? I'll flash using hardware programmer and let you know!!

Thanks,
Hendre

Ok friend,
You have got the result file into there is a Bios Backup (It's the Region Bios)
so find this file "x64_bios-region_8.1.10.1286.bin" thn crop out first 0x300000h bytes

You'll get a 4096 KB file this is your Bios (Region Bios) file !
You can compare with files You posted to me and look !!! They are different so
your SPIPGM is reading wrong bytes, can You say to me which is ?
Have You selected the right Chip ? may be You are using a Pomona Soic Clip
and Programmer cannot read rightly contents ?
and then your Firmware = FULL DUMP is constituted by

MX25L6405D = 8192 KB

MX25L3205D = 4096 KB

We need both files to get Whole Firmware and find Region_Bios

Let me Know
Regards

P.S. the most is done Wink

Hi friend,

For some reason my hardware programmer is detecting the first chip as the 4MB chip.

I read the second chip, which I believe is the actual bios according to coreboot: http://www.coreboot.org/File:T530_SPI_chips.jpg

I've attached 2 dumps for the second chip.

Thanks!

You are reading Eeprom using a Pomona Soic Clip ?
I used too but many times I have had desoldering Chips from MoBo !

I saw that only second is Region Bios and we can Write only this, but I was finding that Yu can read
other Eeprom too to save your FULL DUMP Firmware and save contents of 8M Chip which We cannot
find never into Lnovo Service (They change MoBo dirctly) so for the future to repair this Laptop
if EC Firmware will go wrong during a Bios Update, We will get the chance to use this file !
If You don't want give It to me too, let You get for yourself as I haven't It and if It will be ruined
I will not have possibility to recover It !
You can compare Eeprom file with your Bios Backup and see differences !!!
We have differences between two new files and with your Bios Backup, so They are not good !!!
There are problems on SPIPGM of timng so You have to set slow tming, normaly mine has
-2 -1  0 +1 +2 and I use with Clip -1 .

Let me know

Let me see what I can do ... thanks for the tips.

BTW - I am using Blackcat USB. I will try to set settings manually and see what I can do to get both chips read.

Try these files and see what it looks like. I think I had a wire mapped incorrectly.

Sorry very new at hardware programming ... thanks for being patient with me!!

What software are you using to read/view the BIOS files so I can download as well?

EDIT: I just got a hex editor and started seeing the differences you talked about. I re-uploaded a new 4MB dump.

Attached Files
.bin   MXIC_MX25L640_00-7FFFFF.bin (Size: 8 MB / Downloads: 24)
.bin   4MB flash read.bin (Size: 4 MB / Downloads: 24)

Hi friend,
I use mupltiple Hex Editor as anyone has its own feature !
There are WinHex, HexWorkshop, Beyond Compare and HxD !
To Hex Compare the Best one is Beyond Compare 3 - 4 It's the same !
Your files have some bytes diffences and are not good !
It seems as your reader cannot get all buffering data, When i get this issue
I try to slow down timing, or desoldering Eeprom to read It directly on soic adapter !
