[REQUEST] Samsung RV508-A01 Whitelist Removal
#1
After installing the new WiFi module, the notebook turns on, passes the BIOS and freezes before loading the OS, there are no errors. On another computer, the WiFi module works fine.

Last version BIOS: 03UB 2010-11-15 https://www.samsung.com/ru/support/model...508-A01RU/ (At the bottom, Also the file is attached)

I wanted to replace the unnecessary VID PID myself, but I couldn't do it, because I had 2 problems:
1) The installer shows that the installed version is newer than in the archive (although in fact, they are the same).
Perhaps this can be circumvented by manually flashing the firmware via the command line? But I don't know the commands.

2) Phoenix Tool disassembles the firmware into parts, but instead of the "Structure" button, the "Verify" button appears and I can't replace parts of the firmware.

By VID PID I found two files and several places, but probably the list is at the end of the file 30303030-3030-3332-0000-000000000000.PEI

Old: VEN_168C DEV_002B SUBSYS_E025105B  REV_01 (If you do a replacement, not deleting the list, I would like to replace not the old one, but some other one from the list, for example  168C 001C)

New: VEN_168C DEV_0034 SUBSYS_662111AD REV_01

Thank you very much in advance!

Managed to replace the PID at the time of the message "You can now make manual alterations to any module in the DUMP directory".
Flashed using Advanced mode and disabled version checking.

The computer turned on with the old wifi module, everything is fine, but with the new one, unfortunately, it also freezes after the bios (black screen, LEDs are on, ctrl+alt+del does not respond, only a short press of Power turns off the computer, as it was before).

So I didn't replace everything or what? It is possible that I replaced 1C with 34, but further in this line there is 02 02, maybe it was necessary to change in another line where 02 03 or 03 03, I do not know...

Apparently, I did not replace everything, I also found such a place above, but I do not know if it is enough to change 1C to 34, then there are incomprehensible numbers 75 ...

I attached the original file, untouched.

Changed 1C to 34 in two places, did not help.
Changed the ID of the old module 2B to the new 34 in two places, the new one also did not work. But the old one continued to work, so this is a false list to mislead? Maybe the firmware is not updated, but the program WinPhlash64.exe shows the process, 28 blocks (if I'm not mistaken) the software is erased and updated one by one, and then the computer restarts. Who thinks what, why is this happening, how do I still run a new module on this laptop?

Hi!

Maybe hardware incompatibility?

Sometimes replacing VID and PID will not work, so disabling whitelist can help.
Flash this via WinPhlash.

Sorry for the long answer, I didn't expect anyone to answer.

I flashed this firmware, nothing has changed, the laptop with the old module works, with the new one does not turn on, hangs on the black screen after the bios test. But thanks a lot anyway.

Version 03UB remained, it seems that the date of the firmware 2010-05-06 has changed-did you change this to check that the firmware is being updated? And with the white list, are there any changes in this firmware or not ?

I didn't change the date, I've only made some changes in sequence of operations which are mentions all factory pre-installed PCI devices.

Looks like I can't do anything here.

It is a pity, it is strange that changing the vid pid of the old module in the firmware, the laptop with it still turns on. Maybe there is no whitelist, and these vid-pid are specified for something else, maybe just the new module is not compatible with this laptop (it works on another hp-laptop).
