[Request] CPU upgrade - Toshiba A500-17x PSAR3E
#1
Big Grin
Dear friends,
I am hoping that someone might help me.

I would like to upgrade my CPU to a speedier one.

Bios Link:
http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-file...194425.zip

Current CPU: Link: http://intel.ly/1Gkikpn
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P7450 (3M Cache, 2.13 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
(Socket P - PGA478)

New CPU: http://intel.ly/1CfN5e9
Intel® Core™2 Extreme Processor QX9300 (12M Cache, 2.53 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)

New CPU variant 2:
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P9700 (6M Cache, 2.80 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)

I triple checked all available information, and the Chipset Model - GM45/GM47 supports the QX9300 CPU, as well as the P9700. (Just the QX9300 has a higher TDP value and if it will work I will proceed to create a custom heat dissipation system for this laptop to support the higher TDP).

Please, if anyone can help - I would like to request a modded bios to enable support for this CPUs.

Would it be possible such a CPU change modification?

Hey everyone, just updating this thread for whoever will be interested in the CPU upgrade for the A500-17x

I upgraded from the P7450 CPU firstly to P8800 and then to P9700. Both of those CPUs were compatible with the system. The system was booting and working stable. So I guess that all Intel P series CPU will work on this system. No changes in BIOS are needed, as the system sees the CPUs from the first boot.

Confirming for this system:

You are right. Last BIOS (2.00) has all needed microcodes:
