[Request] HP G 71-343US Whitelist removal, other menu access
#1
.
Hello,

I have read so much my head is buzzing.......Huh

My Laptop:
HP Pavillion G 71 343US
BIOS HP F.14
Processor T-6600
Windows 7 (64bit)

The HP site recommends F.23 with F.21 as previous.
My F.14 is not listed anywhere as previous for the G71..??
The nearest is F.13A and with previous F.12A

this is current upgrade to F.23
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp51501-52000/sp51527.exe

Wanted:
Whitelist removal (tried an Intel 802.11AC card and rec'd 304 error)
"other" boot menu access (although I'm not sure why)
SLIC in-out-why ? I don't know. How can it help ? What can it do ?

About virtualization, I have installed and use Windows Virtual PC (XP) on this laptop. Does that mean that the T-6600 can run hardware virtualization ? Or is it really a software application ?

I don't know what Insyde BIOS is.
I don't know how/why UEFI is important to install new BIOS.

I have installed BIOS upgrades before, both from DOS and Windows.

I have read in different threads about the HP_recovery partition. Some say to keep and some say to delete... which one ?

I have read that a corrupt BIOS still needs "______" to be recovered. Is that true ? What is "_____" ?

A link to the reliable BIOS recovery technique please.

A link to how to backup my current BIOS.

What else to we need to know ? Thanks.

Hi friend,
before anything We have to do a Bios Backup for your F.14 (there isn't on HP site)
so use these tool run as Aministrator and uploaded here result files :

http://rghost.net/52417082

And this too :

http://rghost.net/53128665

Then for sp51527.exe F.23 there are many Mods like Donovan6000 :

http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-RE...CQ61-424SA

Or Camiloml into Repository Files (find yours) :

http://www.bios-mods.com/BIOS/index.php?dir=Insyde%2F

Let me know
Regards

Does anyone keep track of the changes made for each mod ? I would like to pick.

What I mean is for instance, this mod has only Whitelist removal,
this mod has whitelist removal and hidden menus added,
this has all the above and SLIC
this one has only SLIC and EIST.... etc.

Does anyone keep track of each of the changes or does everyone go for it all ?

Follow the link that you sent me with the Donovan6000 post. Did he include all the changes from Post #1 of the OP ?

It's here :

Camiloml = Remove Whitelist + Debug + More Options + EIST
(sp51527_NWL_EISTUlk_MoreOptions_ByCamiloml.exe)

Donovan = Power Menu Tab only

"I removed all the EFI_IFR_SUPPRESS_IF command inside the setup utility
I don't know how your bios behaves anymore than you do.
I only unlock the options, and this doesn't tell me how your settings behave."

So Camiloml is missing only Slic 2.1 !

Do You want the TTAV134 Mod Pack ? I can do for You ! just ask to me Wink

These are your Bios Menu tabs, 7 tabs :

Form Sets
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Offset: Name:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
0x4DD40 Exit (0x317)
0x4DE00 System Configuration (0x2BC)
0x4E3D0 Diagnostics (0x2F1)
0x4E430 Security (0x215)
0x4E560 Main (0x27)
0x4E980 Power (0x257)
0x4F220 Debug (0x32B)

Can You upload some Screen Shots to look which ones are Hidden and
ones are Shown, please ?

I checked all Bioses and I found these Modules to modify to get :

1. Slic 2.1 Permanent 7E374E25-8E01-4FEE-87F2-390C23C606CD_885.ROM Header RSA key + Marker 2.1

2. EIST F7731B4C-58A2-4DF4-8980-5645D39ECE58_666.ROM PowerManagement2

3. No Whitelist E62F9F2F-4895-4AB5-8F1A-399D0D9C6B90_1072.ROM WirelessDetection

4. Menu Tabs Unlock + More Options FE3542FE-C1D3-4EF8-657C-8048606FF670_639.ROM SetupUtility

This Bios is Moddable only using Swapping Mode !!!

So Camiloml has shown Power Menu Tab using Diagnostic Tab + More Options
and Donovan has shown Debug Menu Tab using Diagnostic Tab
More Options = Modify some EFI IFR Code to bypass Suppress If and unhide More Options
into Menu Tabs !

I will try to get two Mods to include Slic 2.1 + EIST + ADV + More Options and I will upload here !
The Settings You will save into NVRAM will not going to loose and You could use like a Sliding Doors
these two Bioses loading which one You prefer and turning on or off any setting !

Slic 2.1 + Power + No Whitelist + EIST + More Options :

http://rghost.net/56424026

Slic 2.1 + Debug + No Whitelist + EIST + More Options :

http://rghost.net/56424021

What next ? I have copy of F.14

Thanks
